I'll do 1 with our current picks and 1 with that trade. And I might even throw in another trade with that 2nd one.
Round 1: Taylor Lewan, OT, Michigan. We need an OT and we could get Lewan to fill our hole at RT. He didn't allow any sacks, but he did have some stupid penalties. Can't be any worse then Michael Oher at RT.
Round 2: Jarvis Landry, WR, LSU. I'm hoping for Jordan Matthews, but I'm not expecting it. Landry would be a very solid #2 WR for us.
Round 3: C.J. Fiedorowicz, TE, Iowa. This gives us a very good #2 TE who is a beast and can catch and block very well.
Round 4 Comp #1: Bryan Stork, C, Florida State. It might seem like a reach, but I use cbssports as my main source of draft stock/info. Right now they have a 4th/5th round grade on him, so a 4th comp isn't really a reach. He could be a good C for us.
Round 4 Comp #2: Dion Bailey, S, USC. Bailey could be a good FS to start next to Elam.
Round 5 Comp #1: Aaron Colvin, CB, Oklahoma. This is a typical Ozzie pick. He tore his ACL at the senior bowl, so his stock has definitely fallen. If we just sign a vet CB for 1 or 2 more years, possibly Corey Graham, he could be our #3 CB for a while, then we could just stick Aaron Colvin in.
Round 5 Comp #2: Brent Urban, DE, Virginia. I still really want to take him here. He would be cheap and good depth on our D-Line.
Round 6: Patrick O'Donnell, P, Miami. With Sam Koch likely getting released for cap space, O'Donnell would be a great fit to replace him. He has very good leg strength and accuracy. And he's a pretty good athlete.
Draft With Trade
Round 1 #30: Jordan Matthews, WR, Vanderbilt. He is one of the 3 WR's I'm primarily and realistically hoping to draft (Him, Allen Robinson, and Brandin Cooks). He is a very good all-around WR. Robinson is a bit faster and Matthews has better hands and route running. Cooks is a smaller and faster WR. While I want Matthews, I'd settle for any of the 3.
Round 2 #16: Austin Seferian-Jenkins, TE, Washington. We get our monster TE who has the potential to be the best TE of the whole class when all is said and done.
Round 2 #23: Travis Swanson, C, Arkansas. First I'll announce the trade. We acquire #23 in the 2nd round for #30 in the 2nd round, #30 in the 4th round, and #16 in the 6th round. Swanson is the best C in the whole draft and it would provide a huge boost to our O-Line.
Round 3 #16: Ja'Wuan James, OT, Tennessee. Here we get our RT who could start right away for us.
Round 4 Comp #1: Dion Bailey, S, USC. Here we get our FS to go next to Matt Elam.
Round 4 Comp #2: Christian Jones, LB, Florida State. Jones reminds me a little bit of Arthur Brown. He has the ability to cover TE's, which is a big plus. He could start out as a nickel LB, just like Arthur Brown. He could have a year or 2 to gain 10-15 pounds. Then he could maybe start next to Art Brown and we'd be set for the next decade.
Round 5 Comp #1: Aaron Colvin, CB, Oklahoma. Again, take the injured Colvin, give him a year or two, then he could be a steal in the 5th round.
Round 5 Comp #2: Brent Urban, DE, Virginia. Good pick to give us D-Line depth.
