Hey Ravens fans. I wanted to write a small piece on the state of the NFL in the country which I call home ( until recently when I decided to travel the world ) and I myself, as I am a fanatical ravens fan and have been for about 10 years ( 24 now ).
In Australia the game is gradually gaining popularity, although Australian rules and rugby will always be the favourites. It does work out well for the NFL though the season is played in the other football codes offseason so it picks up a few fans who want to watch physical sport in summer.
Most of the people who I know that follow the NFL all go for the likes of the Patriots, Niners or the Packers (bandwagon much ). They all love to bag out and undermine Flacco even after last postseason, but I'll get the last laugh that's for sure.
Media in Australia rarely pays any attention to the NFL, the only highlights you will get is a 10 second recap of the Super Bowl. I think that's a real shame because Aussies appreciate great athletes, even if they do wear pads because they are 'soft'( that's the general argument with anyone over here about the NFL vs AFL).
I have been following this blog almost on a day to day basis since I found it almost 3 years ago, the articles may be a repeat of what I have previously read on the official website of the ravens or NFL.com but the comments from everyone gives me a greater understanding and knowledge of the Baltimore Ravens.
As for this season, I have been backpacking through Europe but making sure to stream the Ravens game every week ( those monday night games are tough over here ). I was disappointed with the season but I know Ozzie and company will once again get it done in the draft and give the most under appreciated QB the time and weapons he deserves to get more rings in the near future.
It has been a dream of mine to visit Baltimore and watch the ravens play for a long time and I plan on doing it this year some time.
Btw my favourite players were Ray, Ed and Heap but are now Flacco, J.Smith and American express!
Thanks for reading.
