From ProFootballFocus 32 Observations:
On third down passes, Joe Flacco has gone 27-of-43 for 366 yards. His yardage total is 50 more than any other passer.
They don't offer any analysis beyond that and it's hard to extrapolate too much because of lack of access to the other QBs' stats, but I will tell you what I think and please make your own observations!
1. Yay for Joe! That seems to be a high % of third down conversion at 62% (am i right?). Joe is big time. :-)
2. That's also over 13 yards/completion. I think the combo of Dallas Clark and Brandon Stokley might be working more than we are giving it credit for. But I'm sure Torrey and others have made some of these plays as well.
3. Long 3rd down conversions help to pad that yardage total, which means our run game isn't getting much on 1st and 2nd down--that is obvious to everyone and will hopefully get better soon.
4. Having more 3rd down yards than any other passer isn't a claim to fame when you think about the most efficient offenses not getting to 3rd down in the first place. However, it is a comfort to know that Joe can get it done when itcounts as he always has.
