In the fourth quarter of Baltimore's 24-21 loss to St. Louis, with the Ravens possessing the ball at midfield, Brown ran a slant over the middle. Third-string quarterback Caleb Hanie hit him in stride. Seeing open field ahead, Brown took the pass the rest of the way for a 50-yard touchdown, showing some explosion in the process.
It would be hard to leave Brown off the roster with how he's played this preseason. He finished Thursday's game with four catches for 79 yards and a touchdown.
Brown's touchdown put the Ravens ahead 21-17, with the Ravens in position to win their third preseason game. However, the Rams responded with a screen pass from reserve quarterback Austin Davis to running back Chase Reynolds that went for a 17-yard touchdown.
The fourth and final preseason game was more about getting the reserves a chance to compete for those final roster spots. Running back Bobby Rainey made the most of his opportunity. Rainey played the entire first half as Baltimore's running back and scored two touchdowns in the process.
Both scores required second effort lunges over the goal line. Rainey churned out 39 rushing yards on 13 carries.
Third-year receiver Tandon Doss redeemed himself after a poor outing against Carolina a week ago. Doss finished the night with five receptions for 75 yards, which included a deep completion for 40 yards.
Hanie finished the night 20-39 for 272 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. He's hoping the Ravens decide to keep three quarterbacks on the roster, something the Ravens haven't done in recent years.
