Asa Jackson Responds to Suspension

The second-year quarterback issued a series of tweets in response to the NFL announcing his eight-game suspension.

Cornerback Asa Jackson responded after news became public that he violated the NFL's performance enhancing drugs policy a second time in two seasons.

Jackson served a four-game suspension a season ago and will sit out Baltimore's first eight games of the 2013 season. Coach John Harbaugh made it seem like Jackson will remain with the team through the eight-game suspension with the opportunity to work his way on to the 53-man roster.

If not, he could be gone at that point. Suspended players do not count against the 53-man roster total.

Jackson apologized for violating the NFL's policy on PEDs via twitter and offered an explanation.

The tweets are posted in reverse order, so that they can be read as a statement:

Jackson noted that the team doctor changed, though it's still his responsibility to follow-up if there are any staff changes. Harbaugh was not pleased when asked about it after Friday's practice.

"If you don't follow the rules, you get suspended," Harbaugh said. "That's a fair rule. There's no place for that. And he's getting what he deserves. As far as what it does to our corner depth, it's one less corner. We'll be missing Asa. If he'll be back after that, time will tell."
