Doss Sits While Mellete Practices With First String

by Mike Mullenix

As I wrote about two days ago, it seems that certain rookies are definitely seeing more reps with the first team. While Tandon Doss stood on the sidelines, Aaron Mellette took snaps with the first team.

Baltimoreravens.com is reporting that although Marlin Brown also got some snaps with the first team, Mellete and Flacco seemed to be in sync immediately and connected on a touchdown throw over recently released Chris Johnson. Although it is still too early to declare that Doss is out and Mellette is in, it seems certain that he has caught the eye of Harbaugh and Caldwell.

Going back one week, Coach Harbaugh gave Aaron Mellette some tough love by calling him lazy and lackadaisical and instructing Offensive Coordinator Jim Caldwell to remove him from the field. After yet another touchdown in another preseason game and a long pass interference call that set up yet another touchdown he seems to be impressing the coaches.

As reported here at Baltimrebeatdown.com by Victor Hensley, Harbaugh was glowing about Mellette with his comments after this weeks practice declaring, "(I'm) proud of him, very proud of him." A few more touchdowns and a couple more impressive practices and not only will his spot on the roster be secure, but we may see a good bit of him during games.

The opinions posted here are those of the administrator of this blog and his loyal readers. They are in no way official comments from the team, and should not be misconstued as such, even though he thinks he could do just as well or even a better job!
