With the Baltimore Ravens reportedly signing veteran wide receiver, Brandon Stokley, many fans are wondering what this addition means for the team.
Despite the Ravens' huge win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, we saw very little action from Jacoby Jones, Tandon Doss, and Deonte Thompson: Guys who are expected to step up this year and fill in the shoes of Anquan Boldin and Dennis Pitta. The underwhelming combined effort by these three guys (one reception for five yards) is a possible reason for the signing.
Another possible reason for this signing is that the Ravens want to bring in a proven veteran to challenge their younger receivers to work harder: A message that if they want to play, they need to perform better. Then again, it is entirely possible I am reading way too much into the signing, and Stokley was brought in just to be another body in training camp.
Whatever the case may be, it will certainly be interesting to see just how much Stokley has left in the tank at the age of 37.
