Ryan Jensen to Have Surgery on Broken Foot

The rookie lineman could miss up to 10 weeks, according to the Baltimore Sun.

The Ravens will be without rookie lineman Ryan Jensen for an extended period of time.

Jensen, who can play both center and guard, has broken and his foot and will require surgery, according to the Baltimore Sun's Aaron Wilson.

Jensen was drafted initially to back up Gino Gradkowski at center. After rookie minicamp, however, the Ravens traded a conditional seventh round pick to Indianapolis A.Q. Shipley. In training camp thus far, Shipley has worked mostly with the second team but has received some first-team reps.

Jensen was taken in the sixth round of the 2013 draft and attended college at Colorado State-Pueblo. He was named a Second-Team Division II All-American by Don Hansen’s Football Gazette.

With a 10-week outlook, the Ravens could wind up using the IR tag on Jensen and let the rookie effectively redshirt, much like college football programs do with freshmen. As it is, they are set at center for the time being with Gradkowski and Shipley and could use the roster spot for another position of need.
