The Baltimore Ravens will be well represented at this year's ESPN ESPY Awards, as both the 'Team of the Year,' as well as others. Winning the Super Bowl is usually enough to get you into the competition in this category, but the other categories are wide-open.
One of the biggest and most popular categories is the 'Best Play' category. A story on SportsMedia101.com lists the awards the Ravens are up for and also what Ravens play was nominated for the 'Best Play.' One might think it was one of the Super Bowl XLVII big plays, but it was the Ray Rice, 4th and 29 play, now known as "Hey Diddle Diddle, Ray Rice Up The Middle," in the Ravens unlikely comeback to beat the San Diego Chargers 16-13 in overtime back in November.
According to the related story, that play's biggest competition could very well come from the college ranks, with South Carolina's Jadeveon Clowney's vicious hit and fumble recovery against Michigan as seen above. South Carolina did not go onto win the National Championship as the Ravens did with the Super Bowl, so one might think that Rice's play had a much bigger effect on his team's season.
