Our friends over at mocking the draft put together a fan mock and these were the results for our Baltimore Ravens. Keep in mind our rep didn't show up, so I just hopped in on the fly and no trades were allowed.
1. Manti Te'o, MLB, Notre Dame
My top 3 safeties (Cyprien, Vacarro, Elam) were off the board, My top 3 WR's (Austin, Patterson, Allen) were off, As well as Arthur Brown. Te'o I felt was the best available at a position of need. I know many are down on him, but I think he could be a classic case of a stud falling to Ozzie. His 40 time was slow, but people didn't look at his other numbers. He ran a faster 20 yard shuttle and 3 cone drill than Ogletree (who is supposed to be the athlete), which shows how well he changes direction. He's a very instinctual player who is a tackling machine. While he may not be a stand out in man coverage, people under estimate his ability as a zone coverage defender. He understands how to drop and disrupt passing lanes which IMO is more than enough as very few MLB's will just shut down players man to man. He's not an explosive athlete, but a fluid one who doesn't waste steps and his instincts are as good as any in the draft. He's my no. 2 rated MLB and a guy who I think could thrive in our system.
2. Stedman Bailey, WR, West Virginia.
Was hoping Swearinger would fall, but he didn't make it, so I added a weapon for Flacco. Boldin leaves a bit of a whole at WR and Bailey is a guy who could come in and immediately fill that need. People will look at his size and discount him, but he plays much bigger than that and is simply a football player. Tavon Austin is the better prospect, but Bailey was Geno's go to guy. Bailey is a outstanding route runner, has nice short area quickness, good YAC, solid hands, and extremely productive as seen by his 114 receptions 1621 yards and 25 tds he had last season alone. He's pro ready and gives this offense another playmaker.
3rd pick I wasn't able to stick around anymore. Unfortunately board did not play out the way I wanted and had we been able to mover I would have traded back and then also traded up again in the 2nd. Still I think these are two solid players who can have an impact day one at positions of need.
Here's a link to the draft, so you can see how everything fell and what you would have done differently.
