Who Will Lead With Ray Lewis' Retirement?

Rob Carr

The Ravens could be facing the loss of two of their biggest leaders in Ray Lewis and Ed Reed this off season. Who will step up to lead the team in their absence?

With Ray Lewis retiring and Ed Reed seemingly already having one foot out the door who will the Ravens turn to to lead their team from here on out?

The obvious answer would be quarterback Joe Flacco, who is obviously the leader of the offense already but isn't really the vocal or emotional leader that Ray or Ed has been for the past few years. Joe can lead the team on the field but the will still be missing that overall emotional leadership in the clubhouse that, mostly, Ray Lewis provided for so long.

Some say that Terrell Suggs may be the teams best choice as overall emotional leader but I think Suggs may be a bit too goofy and fool-hearted to truly be the leader of men when times are at their worst.

The Ravens need someone to mentor troubled young players who are experiencing their first NFL training camp. Someone to keep the team focused when things seem to be at their worst.

Let's face it there isn't another Ray Lewis coming out in the draft and Ed Reed can be pretty aloof at times, even if he did stay with the team. Maybe running back Ray Rice can be counted on to use some of that swagger he learned from Lewis and keep this team together emotionally after a tremendous Super Bowl season.

Who do you think the Ravens next emotional leader will be?
