What do we have to do to have a good team without mortgaging the future?

It's simple

RAY LEWIS, MATT BIRK, BRENDAN AYENBADEJYO and BOBBIE WILLIAMS.... retire or are released

SAM KOCH has really slipped... cut him and his 2 million

ANQUAN BOLDIN & JACOBY JONES... both want to retire as Ravens, extend both 2 more years while cutting their 2013 number in half (5 million savings)

VONTA LEACH... offer same as Boldin/Jacoby- half and/or extend or cut him (2 million savings)

CARY WILLIAMS.... is gone, we don't need him. Our secondary is one of the best in the league with Webb, Graham, Smith and Brown.

PAUL KRUGER is gone, unless he is willing to sign a contract like JJ did years ago- 4 yrs 16 million. I think he will be offered more than that, prob more like 5 yrs 25-8 million, in which case he is gone. Remember, Upshaw will likely be better within 2 years. He had 18 sacks his Sr. season and 14.5 his Jr. season, in the SEC, toughest conference in the NCAA.

JOE FLACCO is re-signed with the front in lower, hopefully first year hit in the 8-12 million range

DENNIS PITTA & ED DICKSON....tender both of them, Dickson at round drafted and Pitta at 1st or 2nd rounder. Then extend Pitta. But we will probably need to let Dickson walk. He is not bad, but unless he signs for a reasonable, we can probably find his replacement in the middle rounds.

ED REED... I think we should offer him 2 years, 10 million and let him test the market. He knows we want him to stick around and coach, so maybe he would take that slight pay cut to stay. He aint getting 7 million a year on the open market. Would think about franchising him if Flacco gets a long term deal worked out. I think the tag for safeties is only around 6 million. Either way, we have Omar Brown and last year's 4th rounder, Christian Thompson. We should also bring back Ihedigbo, he played well for us.

DANELL ELLERBE must be resigned within reason.

BRYANT MCKINNIE...its a good FA year to get a T cheap, so I think make him a decent but reasonable offer and tell him take it or we will look elsewhere.

RAY RICE, HALOTI NGATA, and TERRELL SUGGS are not getting cut. They will all get healthy, and cutting them will not help our cap problems much this year.

Remember how many good players the Ravens lost last year, yet returned to the playoffs and won the Super bowl

BEN GRUBBS...replaced by Osemele, who looks like a stud at LG

JJ...replaced by Kruger and Courtney Upshaw

Redding & McKinney...replace by McPhee, Jones, and Kemaotu

Nakamura and Zbikowski...replaced on ST by Graham, on D by Ihedegbo

Lee Evans...upgraded to Jacoby Jones

Ricky Williams....Bernard Pierce
