I am reminded of Ozzie's long search for a legit number one receiver in the draft, finally ending with Torry Smith. But before him we were signing veteran receivers off other teams who would be productive and having a lot of misses on receivers in the draft. Now that that search is over, can we please find a real offensive coordinator?
I am tired of the completely awful play calling. Flacco shares a lot of blame for continually making terrible throws and still does not make ANY pre snap reads! And I know everyone wants to get on Rice this season, but come on people we know what he can do and has done. Same with Bernard Pierce. They owe their awful production to a crappy offensive line (which still baffles me) and completely awful play calling reminiscent of Cam Cameron. Jim Caldwell's play calling has been terrible. Where are the screens? There is seriously no imagination once again to our offense. Ozzie needs to stop hiring these cast off and rejected coaches to come coach our team. Cam Cameron was hired off a season where who coached the 1-15 Miami Dolphins. Where was the success in his resume to come coach our offense? I don't care what kind of coach you are, if you coach a team to that type of record, there is something wrong with you and it eventually shows. And Jim Caldwell has been nothing but a puppet for Peyton Manning his entire career. Sure he might coach quarterbacks well, but then again Ozzie should only have him be the QB coach. Does anyone seriously believe Jim Caldwell did anything while being Peyton Manning's O-coordinator and head coach? Not a chance. He's nothing but a stand in zombie who basically was there to let Peyton unleash on everyone. That was Peyton's team, and Jim Caldwell had nothing to do with that. He has no business being our offensive coordinator because he can't make good play calling! In Indy Jim had Peyton where Peyton just changed the plays all the time after his pre snap reads. In Baltimore, Jim has Flacco he for some god awful reason still doesn't make any pre snap reads. Joe just runs the plays that are called, and Jim does not make good play calling.
I'm a big believer in "In Ozzie We Trust", but here I think he has really been messing up and I think it's about time we started looking for offensive coaches with a resume of building success or influencing a lot of success. I'm done with these reject coaches who may know a thing or two to help our offense, but have no idea how to be an offensive coordinator.
