Baltimore Ravens Acquire Left Tackle Eugene Monroe

Phil Sears-US PRESSWIRE

The Baltimore Ravens, unhappy with their performance from their offensive line and left tackle in particular, have made a move to acquire a starting caliber left tackle from the Jacksonville Jaguars in Eugene Monroe, according to Adam Schefter:

While the exact price of the trade is unknown for the Ravens, we do know that it consists of multiple draft picks:

General Manager Ozzie Newsome is notoriously selfish with draft picks, showing how desperate the Ravens truly are. Additionally, "third-day draft picks" refers to rounds four through seven, which take place during the third and final day of the NFL Draft.

Bryant McKinnie, the Ravens current left tackle, has been terrible this season after signing a new 2 year, $6.3 million dollar contract this offseason. Monroe, who has started 62 of 65 games since being drafted with the eighth pick in the first round of the 2009 NFL Draft, is signed through this season with a base salary of $3.8 million.

The 6'5" 306 pound Monroe should help an offensive line that managed 24 rushing yards against a Buffalo Bills previously ranked 30th run defense, while also allowing 4 sacks and 12 quarterback hits of $120.6 million man Joe Flacco.
