The 2012 NFL regular season gets underway in a few hours as the defending Super Bowl Champion New York Giants host the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys totally underachieved last year and there are those that could argue the Giants did the opposite by coming from a 9-7 regular season record to win the Lombardi Trophy.
I cannot see Dallas going on the road to such a hostile environment, even if it is actually in New Jersey, not New York, and winning. Dallas has all the potential in the world and seems to be expected to fight for the division title every year. However, whether you want to place the blame on QB Tony Romo or not, they always find a way to miss out.
Meanwhile, despite an average record last year, the Giants are built to compete, with a balance running and passing game, led by Eli Manning, who has to be given credit for being a clutch QB and now appears ready to be considered the best QB in the Manning family. Their defense is also balanced and opportunistic and therefore I can see them winning tonight and sending the Cowboys home frustrated at starting the regular season on a losing note.
Giants: 27-17
