It's possible that in the shadow of the Baltimore Ravens impressive 44-13 victory last night over the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday Night Football, that even the great Ray Lewis will be overlooked for his performance. Starting his 17th NFL season at 37 years old, many have been saying for years now that he is older, slower and not nearly the player he was years ago.

However, it's tough to deny that he is still a force in the game, and remains one of the more disruptive players on the field. Finishing last night's game with 14 tackles, a sack and a forced fumble, he was easily the best defensive player on the field last night. Even with Ed Reed returning an interception for a touchdown and Haloti Ngata having two sacks, their few plays of note pale in comparison to what Ray did all night long.

Early in the game, it appeared that Lewis was in on the tackle on virtually every play. He ran sideline-to-sideline making plays and even dropped into coverage on passing plays. The changes he made in his body by dropping weight to gain speed were evident as there was no way he looked like the guy people were saying was on his last legs. No question those same people would love to have this aging veteran on their team right now.
