Should Ed Reed Get a New Contract?

Ed Reed has been a bit of a distraction lately with his waffling back and forth between retirement. Most people believe that his discontent stems from his desire for a new contract. And with the contracts of both Ray Rice and Joe Flacco nearing their end, it looks as if the Ravens will have to cut ties with at least one of the three. And honestly, I think the Raven we will see departing Baltimore is Ed Reed.

I know that seems a bit blasphemous, but Ozzie is known for letting players past their prime walk early rather than late. I think keeping Ray Rice and Joe Flacco may be the smartest move because a.) they are younger and just entering their prime, and b.) they have the ability to contribute to the Ravens' future, where Ed Reed is approaching the end of his career. While it may be hard to say goodbye to someone who is a fan favorite, it may be the smartest move for the future of the team.

And with Ed Reed's recent twitter post hinting that he may be retiring soon, it just makes more sense that we will not be retaining him after this season.
