Ricky Williams Retiring

Too bad, he was a nice complement to Ray. I think we'll give Anthony Allen and Damien Berry a shot in camp, as well as a 2012 late-round draft pick--we seem to select a running back every draft under Harbs. I think a guy like Chris Polk out of Washington would be a great pick, but we may have to use a fairly early pick on him. I am not sure who could be there in the later rounds.

I’d like to grab one of the following:
Tolbert
Slaton
Hightower
M. Bush
I think M. Bush will want too much money, but he’d be my ideal choice. I like Hightower a lot too. I doubt very much we make a big splash though. I’m guessing they’ll take someone late it the draft, see how Allen is coming along and let the FA market let itself play out. If they feel like they need somone, they might make a move late into FA.

I’d definitely welcome LeRon back here as the backup RB.

I don’t like his work-ethic. He just doesn’t get what the Ravens are trying to do. All he’s trying to do is get more snaps (ie more money) for himself. Nothing he does is for the team as a whole. It’s me, me, me with him. I don’t want that kind of attitude on my team.

Thoughts on Tomlinson?

he would be an interesting pick up.

by Mayne_Event on Feb 7, 2012 11:39 PM EST up reply actions

he wants to play, but he won’t play for vet min…cuz he “gots kids to feed”

so…his zero dollars will feed his kid better than vet min…according to him…

Yes!

I.d love to LT wearing a Ravens jersey, just like he used to in my younger Madden years. He only had 75 carries this past season, his offseason vacation started very early and he could just help out Ray so much. Granted LT isnt who he used to be, he was nasty in 2006 and up until pretty much 09 there wasnt a guy who had better all around number than him. But! like Frank said, the money part probably wouldnt work out. How old is LT by the way?

dude….there is one, and only one LT….and for that one and only LT, the L does not stand for Ladainian.
As a fan of a team that has the closest thing to the real LT…you should respect the name LT

Call Ladanian LdT

I think his age might be an issue. Ideally I think Ozzie is looking for a solid vet somewhere around 25-27 years old who he can sign to a 2-3 year deal for cheap.

On the other hand though

Definitely want to see Allen get his touches

Not sure we can go the multi-year free agent route with all of our impending free agents coupled with the desire to sign Joe long term. My guess is they will draft someone late and let that guy compete with Allen and Berry in camp. If, however, they do get someone off the street, my guess is it will be a one year deal similar to the one Ricky signed.

by JoshuaStein on Feb 7, 2012 3:28 PM EST reply actions

Agree. They may pick up someone late – but don’t see them going over $1M – $1.5M for a back-up RB. I wouldn’t be surprised by a mid-round draft pick at RB though.

McClain? Really?

No thanks, we don’t need his attitude.

by Brian Adams on Feb 7, 2012 5:23 PM EST reply actions

Maybe he understands his place now…but I don’t see then bringing him back after how he behaved while he was here

by Evan Skev on Feb 8, 2012 6:52 AM EST via mobile up reply actions

There is ZERO chance McClain returns.

by JoshuaStein on Feb 8, 2012 3:32 PM EST up reply actions

There’s a slim chance

by Evan Skev on Feb 9, 2012 11:29 AM EST via mobile up reply actions

its possible because the ravens will need a running back that could be very good in pass blocking which was one the reason why the ravens liked williams.

To have both Leach and McCalin would be cool because if Leach goes down we all know McCalin can step in as the back up fullback

by jazz20 on Feb 9, 2012 4:39 PM EST up reply actions

No chance…but according to the omnipotent Evan, the Ravens’ organization is “dysfunctional” so they will probably give McClain something like $30mil. guaranteed.

by JoshuaStein on Feb 9, 2012 4:56 PM EST reply actions

Anthony Allen

I remember how psyched I was for him at the beginning of the year. I just have a good feeling about him. He’s a bruiser and would seemingly be the perfect compliment to Ray RIce. I sure hope he gets a fair shot at being the #2 RB this year.
