(Stats from UND.com)
I am not sure that Floyd will be there when the Ravens pick. He is thought to be one of the top three receivers in the draft. If Baltimore really wants him they may have to trade up to get him. Is he worth it? I guess you never know until you see him on an NFL field but he is an imposing figure. At 6'3" 224 lbs he has the size to be a play maker at the next level. I hate comparisons but to me he kind of reminds me of Marques Colston from the Saints.

Jermaine Lewis had 2,936 receiving yards and Billick rarely got him the ball. I’d rather put my money on someone Billick II can’t ignore – A center.
Lewis is also 6 inches shorter and about 40 pounds lighter.

then the other guy should have had much better stats? he looks like a big skinny bird with ACL written all over him. manute bol had a sturdier physique.
you have no idea who Floyd is apparently
He’s a physical freak who could stiffarm a CB into next week. His issue that worries me most is that he combines circus catches with mind-boggling drops. He reminds me of Braylon Edwards from a talent standpoint, although we would obviously hope for more production from him if we took him.
His DUI could drop his draft position…

The object is to win the game. You did."

Michael “Oil Can” Floyd?
He has had like three DUI’s I think… Or maybe it was three underage drinking incidents…
Either way, it is a double-edged sword: yes could drop his draft status into our range, but do we want another knucklehead?

To us, hope you are correct. Cannot deny the beast factor with him.

Would be amazing if he falls in the draft. If he falls around 18 or later I think we could potentially move up for him.

Yea, if he were to fall far enough, it would be tough to pass on someone like him if the chance comes up. Ozzie won’t do it if the price isn’t right though.
Have we found out yet whether or not we get a compensatory 4th rounder for all the guys we released? Been wondering ’bout that.

Yeah Floyd is a game changer and really could boost this offense to another level. He is so good at going up and getting the ball at it’s highest points. Really reminds me a lot of Braylon Edwards early on, but he actually has hands. The comp picks aren’t official yet. I have seen guys who projected that we will get a 4th, but they haven’t officially been released.

His potential is somewhere between Braylon and T.O. if he falls far enough in the 1st it will be hard to pass on him.

He reminds me of Vincent Jackson. We should jump up to get him if Chicago goes another way.

We could even jump one ahead of them if Ozzie really wants Floyd. Judging by the trade value chart, we could offer our 1st and 2nd for the 18th pick and their 4th rounder and that will come out With Ozzie winning the value slightly which usually happens. That would be assuming Ozzie really wants Floyd though.

One showed that would be about the value another showed we just receive the 18th pick and give up our 1st and 3rd, which that would probably be the better scenario and be able to keep our 2nd pick. Ozzie always make the draft interesting though. You never know what tricks he has up his sleeves.

I don't care how good a WR is
we do not need to use a first rounder on one. So many great wideouts in this league are lower round picks. A decent QB will make a star out of a WR. We need interior linemen on offense and ILB on defense first. Best player available in those 2 positions at #29.
aka 'Rexx'
Do we need another WR?
I think we have a pretty solid corps…do we need to waste a draft pick on another one? We’re not a pass-oriented team.
A first round pick is never a wasted pick when Ozzie is making the choice. If he feels we need to take a WR with our 1st round pick, than it must be for a good reason.
"Picture Me Rollin"
but seriously. He also drafted Kyle Boller and Michael Oher. He’s not perfect. In fact…looking at his first round draft record, he is about 50-50
Hits: Reed, Suggs, Ngata,
Misses: Boller, Oher, Clayton
Jury is still out : Flacco, Smith,
Can I get some hot sauce for my doughnut?
Even in four years Flacco has done enough to not be labeled a miss. Especially since analysts were on Ozzie about how could he pass up Henne and Brian Brohm for some kid from Delaware.

That is why I didn’t put him in the “miss” column. I’ve said it many times (probably to you, I can’t remember) But Flacco puzzles me. I’ve seen plenty of games where he looks destined for greatness. I’ve also seen plenty of games where he looks like a QB bad enough to have Tyler Palko sending him packing toward weaker competition.
Can I get some hot sauce for my doughnut?
Yea, a starter three years in a row. I don’t think he’s even missed a game.

But…I’ve seen from people on your board that say he sucks, and he’s been moved around multiple times because he couldn’t handle his position…right?
Can I get some hot sauce for my doughnut?
He has bad games like every player. Getting picked 23rd overall and starting every game since day one should not be viewed as a miss. He’s been a team player, and switched his position each season as well. He’s only going to get better.
daytime commentator. night time ninja.
Some could argue that he only started because of media pressure since he had a movie made about him. You know…the “Tebow” factor.
I don’t know really, I know what I’ve seen (not every game, but in most of the game I have…he was abused) and what I’ve seen on here about him, from people who’s opinions I trust.
If you don’t want him to be in the miss column…fine. I’ll just say his success rate is 60% instead of 50%. My point still stands though, Ozzie is not as perfect as Ms Mallor thinks. And this is the comment I was responding too

You Are
Forgetting Ogden (arguably the greatest Raven ever) and Lewis, arguably the greatest MLB ever. Also forgetting: Boulware, Starks, (Jamal) Lewis, McAlister and Heap.
And jury has returned on Flacco: a hit by most reasonable measures. Started ever single game of his NFL career, with an almost 70% (-!!!) winning percentage; most wins ever to start a QB career. Yeah, that’s a 50-50 proposition if ever I saw one…
Flacco is already in or around the top 140 all time for pass attempts, completions, passing TD’s, passing yardage and comebacks (yes, even comebacks-!). Game winning drives, he is already 110th all-time. Now, granted four years is an extremely small sample compared to full careers, but with that said, Flacco is currently 25th all-time for completion percentage and 19th all time for QB rating. I would expect, over time, those rankings to go up and down.
SO I am a little confused why you think the jury has not returned a verdict yet. Is he Ben? Nope, only Ben is Ben. Is Joe Damn Good? Absolutely.
In fact, despite criticism (deserved mind you) on these boards of Oher’s career thus far, Oher is the dictionary definition of jury still out. If he has peaked and startes to regress, then you could say a miss. If however, he stays at RT, and evolves and continues to improve, especially with a full off-season, then he is yet another hit.
The only true misses or “busts” were Travis Taylor (WR- go figure…), Boller and Clayton. And while Boller and Clayton were technically busts, we did get solid production from both of them, just not first-round worthy… Taylor is/was a mulligan…
Given Joe as a hit, and the rest of the folks I listed, Ozzie has done a great job with first round selections. In fact, I think I read somewhere that Ozzie has like the highest batting average of anybody when it comes to first round selections. “Uncanny” was a word I think used to describe Ozzie’s prowess, especially with the first round.

Wait a minute… Ozzie Newsome became the GM in 2002, isn’t that when the draft picks he made are 100% on him? I was only going off of first round picks made under Newsome’s reign.
I’m not going to argue whether Flacco is a hit or not with you, especially when everyone uses team accomplishments to state his case. The guy was the the best option out of Kyle Boller and Troy Smith…
The only reason I say the jury is still out, is exactly what I already said. Just as often as he looks amazing, he looks exactly like he should have been kicked out of D1 by Tyler Palko.
I’m not comparing him to Ben. For some reason, whenever an opinion is made about Flacco from a Steeler fan, Ben’s name comes up. I don’t really understand that, but whatever. I can tell you this though, there are about 5 or 6 members of your blog that rate Ben higher than I do.
I believe he is damn good sometimes, but I also believe that the frequency of the “lows” are too close to the highs to say anything other than “the jury is still out”
For your last point, I can’t argue that. Ozzie is a great GM, his track record is awesome in draft/free agency/and knowing when to get rid of dead weight
I was responding to this
A first round pick is never a wasted pick when Ozzie is making the choice
Which is simply not true. As hard as it may be for you to believe, the comment wasn’t from a “Steeler fan/Raven hater” perspective. It is from an objective perspective.

Ozzie Has
Been responsible for the picks since Day 1, starting in 1996. His title may not have been officially “GM”, but he was for all intense purposes our GM and the man making the decisions. I forget what his title was back then, something like “VP of Football Operations” or some such gobbledygook…
And not only did I back my argument up with “team accomplishments” (your derisive comment), but I also gave some personal stats, such as where he is on some all-time lists, with only four years in -pretty impressive. I did a complete fan post awhile back about where Flacco compares to not only his current contemporaries, but also against some all time greats. I used “team accomplishments” and individual stats. Last time I checked, Flacco was part of a team, and not to do it here, but there is who ’nuther argument to be made that Flacco succeeded despite the offensive team and OC around him… Check the fanpost out sometime!
And the Palko comment… please… intellectually dishonest and you know it as what happened wwaaayyyy back in 2004 when Flacco was 19 years old 19 years old-!, and you are going to use that as a lens to view Joe’s NFL career??? That is like saying my career as an EE has been “up and down” because my sophomore year in college I partied too much with the fraternity and my engineering grades were not exactly stellar that year… C’mon…

I was not aware that he was 100% responsible for the picks before he was officially named GM. That obviously changes things a little. However, he still is not batting .1000, as was suggested.
I bring up “team accomplishments” because that’s still what I see the most of when someone is arguing for Flacco. It’s “been in the playoffs all 4 seasons” or “he’s won a playoff game”. You’re really the only one that even attempted to bring up his personal accomplishments. (while actually making a solid point)
For the other fanpost, can you link it, in case I’ve missed it? I have thought the same thing by the way, I just can’t be sure. Sometimes it seems like the blame should be laid equally. Sometimes it seems 100% Cam’s fault, and sometimes it seems like 100% Flacco’s fault.
As far as Palko, I would hope you would realize that comment was simply to demonstrate the huge chasm between Good Joe, and Bad Joe.
Of course it’s obvious who is better between the two now. (Palko of course ;) )
EE…Electrical engineer?
Can I get some hot sauce for my doughnut?
Yes
Electrical Engineer.
Well, maybe not batting a thousand, but darn near close, especially in the world of drafting players….
The fan post I did is HERE
And to your point about whether it is 100% Cam’s fault or 100% Joe’s fault, obviously whatever trials and tribulations cannot be 100% attributed to Cam, as ever QB has made bone-headed decisions: Brady, Ben, Brees, Rodgers and even Joe. And many of us have called Joe out when he does stupid stuff. But the vast majority of issues seem to be related to Cam’s play-calling and lack of proper adjusting.
