Ravens' Offseason Predictions
Been a while, fellas. Anyway, here is what I think our team will do. We re-sign Joe long-term (Bisciotti stated last year he does not want Joe heading into his final rookie contract season without a new deal in place), franchise tag Rice (to me, a running back's second contract is so difficult to work out), and we let Grubbs walk (the front office usualy does not let former first rounders go, but I doubt we pay big money for the second time to a guard). As for the rest of our lower-profile free agents, I really have no predictions other than we do the usual "let them test the free agent waters" and see it we can/want to match any offers. I would like us to re-sign Haruki, though. I did make a prediction to a buddy of mine the other day, and that is, I am betting we sign one big-time offensive or defensive free agent outside the organization to a nice contract. There will be a bevy of wide receivers available and a few pass rushers hitting free agency, and I predict we sign one of them to a contract (I have no idea who). Those are two positions Ozzie said he will prioritize this offseason. I think we will address them in the draft, but there is too much talent in free agency to not spend some money.
The opinions posted here are those of the administrator of this blog and his loyal readers. They are in no way official comments from the team, and should not be misconstued as such, even though he thinks he could do just as well or even a better job!

I think you got it right
On Flacco, Rice and Grubbs and agree on keeping Haruki as well. Don’t forget we will need big bucks for Haloti next year as well as Lardarius.

First of all that’s two words and second of all that would be dumb.

Loved what he gave us this year, but there were about 5-6 times throughout the season (including against NE) where he would slow down his 9 route thinking that just because the Safety was running next to him, the ball wouldn’t be there. Then he looks up, and there it is.
Joe threw a perfect ball to him in the AFCCG, but Torrey stopped his route just long enough where it seemed the pass was overthrown.

lol..yeah i know. MaLor will have to go to confession tomorrow- at Gary Williams One Year Wonder Arena. maryland can’t get out from under its stupid ways.
He is just miserable… Especially since he had to eat all of his Flacco bashing… Good stuff

the more i watch the AFCC the more flacco looks very average. bring in manning. nobody will pick up joe and he can be a back up until mannings head falls off…but continues to audible.
Don’t short circuit the guys brain…come on. You’re either on his side or your not

who can possibly compete with the all-knowledgeable, all seeing Mr Malor the stalker? Of course man…you are the expert, everyone else in the world are idiots.
Can you please tell me about Joe the person…I can’t get the info without being the Yolanda to Joe’s Selena…..can you help?

How are those mock drafts coming along? QB or FS? Would you say that not being able to move the ball on NE’s defense is at the very least equal to being Tebowed? I would. our mess of a franchise was able to put up 25 on them, and that was after a ton of offensive mistakes.
So……mock drafts? Who ya got? I know you’d like to take your troll crap over to BTSC..but they deal with people like you better than others. Remember how your site banned you? Then you made up another name and posted under that? Then you had conversations between both of your names?
So.the record says that you are the troll. Not only at our site (that you got banned from) but your own site (which you got banned from, then let back on for some reason). for the record, I haven’t been banned from either.
Time to educate yourself on what a troll is? Do you have a mirror?
And yes….I do want a refill, if my cup is empty, you should just assume, quit asking me the same stupid question.

Frank go away, this is obnoxious.
"And, don’t get me started on Joe Flacco," Simms continued. "Did the experts watch the game? Joe didn’t miss a throw, not one. I watched every play. Every time he had the opportunity, he hit the guy. And, he made some moves so he could complete other throws. Are these people watching? What was Joe supposed to do with Texans in his face? Throw it up and hope? Sometimes a sack is a good thing. The object is to win the game. You did."

i wish. essex cc tightened their admissions qualifications. actually, ill have you know, gary williams recruited me to play point guard in 1994. i told him i needed to get back to him because i never played basketball before.
Instead
Of a window of a total SAT score of 400 – 800, they tightened it to 400 – 600… (old SAT scoring system as I realize it has been updated since I took it back in the day…)

I am starting to think about whether or not Ozzie will go over the cap a good bit this year to bring in some elite talent. The only problem with that is that if you go say, $5 million over, it means you have $5 million less to work with next season. Would it be wise to dish out extra money this year to get closer to a SB and take the hit next year?
"Picture Me Rollin"
My Opinion
That is the kind of thinking that gets you in a long term downward spiral.
I am sure there will be plenty of agents that will try to play that card: “…my guy is the one piece your team is missing to go over the top. You know it, I know it, everybody here in city such-and-such knows it. So let’s sign this, we worry about next year’s payroll next year and go out and win a Lombardi this year…” -the siren call of potential Super Bowls…
I firmly believe that Ozzie would not sacrifice the future like that. A mil or two here or there is one thing; but five or six or more million? Way to risky and with likely disastrous consequences.
For example, let us say we had done that last year (if it was even possible) and still came up a little short. We would still be facing the issue of trying to resign our stars, but with $5M less to work with. That would have guaranteed that Grubbs was gone, along with JJ and Redding, and we would be potentially looking at the possibility of an Ed Reed being a cap causality… And forget about signing Webb to a long term deal this season. And the Ravens would not have had a lot of flexibility to try to craft a good, long term deal for Flacco.
And if superstars become cap causalities, you know that would affect the morale and chemistry of the team. No, the Ravens do not do things that way- they take care of their own, and they have rightfully earned that reputation.

Yea, I didn’t think anything like this was going to happen, but just throwing the idea out there.
"Picture Me Rollin"
I highly doubt it happens either
but you gotta think, there’s a good chance Ray and Ed come off the payroll next year. Also, assuming we sign Rice and Flacco this year, the only free agents next year are Kruger (not gonna demand a huge deal, barring a gigantic season), McKinnie (gone), Pitta (restricted), Pollard, Ed Reed (who knows when his final season will be, but it’s getting harder and harder to hold out hope that he has multiple years left in him), David Reed (restricted, gone).
That’s not anything like the group we have this year, so it’s entirely possible to go a little over this year because next year probably won’t demand as much money to retain the guys we want to retain. However it works out, I trust Ozzie and company to do the right thing.
Wow, missed some other guys, but nobody who will demand a big deal, and most likely won't even be back
Foxworth (probably gone this year, though), Evans…we know that story, Harewood, Art Jones (restricted)
I hope this doesnt sound stupid
But dont rule out Evans looking for a reasonable contract if he can stay healthy and score some TDs this year

Don’t think we would be the ones to give it to him though. He would be 32 or 33 at that time. I really don’t see him back unless it’s at a reduced price.
On Ed Reed:

I agree
but I don’t know if he’ll even be back next season, let alone the one after that. If he comes back next season and has a big year, he’s gone because we probably can’t afford him. If he comes back next year and doesn’t do much, he’s gone also. Either way I don’t think we’ll have to worry about re-signing him.
I firmly believe that Ozzie would not sacrifice the future like that.
I completely agree. I’d be surprised to see Ozzie break the bank for a high profile free agent.
Water covers 2/3 of the Earth's surface. Ed Reed covers the rest.
State your case, back it up with facts and reasonable opinions ...

I made a bet with a buddy of mine that we sign one player from outside the organization to a nice contract, either on the offense of defense. Vincent Jackson was a name I threw out there…that would be sweet.
We would have to cut a good bit of players to make that happen. We are sitting at about $13.5 mil under the cap right now, and if we cut Foxworth, Evans AND Carr, we will be sitting at around $18 mil. Then you got Rice, Flacco and possibly Grubbs.
The question is, are we/you willing to let go of a BUNCH of players from the 2011 roster to go after one or two guys? I am not sure Ozzie is.
Just don’t be upset if Ozzie doesn’t make a big splash. Remember how giddy everyone was when we were freeing all this money up last summer and there were the Nnamdi talks going on everywhere?
"Picture Me Rollin"
Yeah, I don't see it happening
but it’s not out of the question, I’m sure they can shed salary in places we aren’t even thinking about.
JJ?
JJ is a more realistic resign than Grubbs, barring tagging him.
Kruger can’t play run D, and JJ is one of the best at setting the edge.

No, I agree…it’s not the Ravens style. I just threw out that bet with my friend because there are A LOT of nice free agents available who can help us, especially at wide receiver. But then I read today that Joe Hortiz said he feels the wide receiver class this year is one of the three strongest positions in the upcoming draft, which leads me to believe they could target someone in the first two rounds, ala Torrey Smith. I certainly will not be disappointed if Ozzie does not spend big on a free agent because I realize we have some of our own guys to take care of first. I won’t be surprised, however, if he does throw some money out there.
That’s why we probably won’t spend a lot of money in FA. There is a lot of quality FA’s this year, so Ozzie will probably sit back and find the guy that maybe got overlooked a bit. They are estimating Jackson will get around 9 or 10 mill a year and we just can’t give up that much. I have a feeling though we will bring in a good G at a good price if we don’t re-sign Grubbs.
On Ed Reed:

This will be like.....
the year we lost Bart Scott, Leonhard, Jason Brown and Resigned Ray Lewis and signed Birk Carr, and Foxworth.
This year, lose Grubbs, Birk and Ricky retire, cut Fox, Carr and maybe Evans. Do we lose JJ, Zbi, and Redding? only time will tell. Resign Rice, and a bunch of nice little supplementary signings like Carr in 2009, Redding in 2010, and Pollard in 2011. All of those were big wins on bang for our buck. We will also have some draft picks coming out way for Chester, Josh Wilson, Dawan Landry, and Leron McClain. The only guys we signed outright were: Vonta Leach, Ricky Williams and Pollard. The other guys we lost and signed were all released i believe. That should be good for 1 or 2 very solid picks (4th-5th round)
