N "if" L: Ravens Win Super Bowl 46

Stay connected for news and updates

Dave Dameshek writes a blog for NFL.com titled The N"if"L. It gives pause to the thoughts of the all-unimportant phrase, "What if?" He surmises what might have happened "if" a big play never happened and what would the domino effect have been as a result.

In a recent episode, titled N 'if L: What if Tyree didn't make his helmet catch,? Dameshek looks at the amazing catch in Super Bowl 32 that New York Giants WR David Tyree made in the closing moments to help defeat the previously undefeated New England Patriots. Had Tyree not held onto the ball against his helmet, the Patriots would have won the game and the ripple effect, in his warped way of thinking, would have put the Baltimore Ravens in this season's Super Bowl against the San Francisco 49ers.

In fact, not only does he see the Ravens in the big game, he predicts that a certain field goal kicker would make the game-winner from a long distance to propel Baltimore to the Lombardi Trophy. Sounds like a far-fetched fantasy, but it certainly would have beaten the reality we all had to share only three short weeks ago.
