Broncos vs. Steelers: Game-Time 'Open Thread'
While many fans of the Baltimore Ravens would like to see the Pittsburgh Steelers lose to the Denver Broncos in this afternoon's Wild Card Round playoff game, still others want to see Pittsburgh advance so they can beat the New England Patriots, which would set up at Ravens-Steelers match-up in the AFC Championship Game in Baltimore for the right to advance to the Super Bowl.
However, an early exit from the post season would still be sweet to all Ravens fans, regardless of where Baltimore has to go in order to play for the right to represent the AFC in the Big Game. With the Ravens already scheduled to host the Houston Texans in the Divisional Round, the winner of the Broncos-Steelers game will head to Foxboro, Massachusetts next week to play the #1 seeded New England Patriots.
In the meantime, keep it here on Baltimore Beatdown to write down your thoughts as the game progresses towards a conclusion and either a Steelers victory or a Broncos upset of the defending AFC Champions. Cheer along with other Ravens fans as we watch with interest to see if Tebow-time will show up or if the injury-riddled Steelers can escape the Mile High City with a road win to fight another day.

Lots of ball left but i can’t see pitt winning this gane if Denver stays aggressive
They let tebow stay in the pocket on 2nd down and 3 on the 6… Big mistake. Roll him out

lol too true--somewhow it always takes me by surprise
I always laugh when I see him squeezed into some black tights—I think after a certain point that “slimming effect” sort of backfires and makes him look hilarious
I think people are sleeping on that Denver defense.
Its a solid defense that can stop the run and rush the passer. The secondary is leaky with Goodman, but that pass rush is for real. The Steelers should win but it ain’t going to be easy.
Side note: Its so disrespectful that there is a possibility that Quinn comes in and pass for the Broncos on 3rd and long. That doesn’t make sense. That’s a slap in the face for the starting quarterback. Its f*cked up.
Denver is ULTRA CONSERVATIVE.
ULTRA CONSERVATIVE!!!!!!
I feel like Tebow is going to try to do too much in this game
He will force a few passes and keep the ball instead of giving it to McGahee
Cheering for the Steelers is hard.

Pitts O gameplan is what is fucking them over. I said this on here a few days ago. They need to ditch the downfield passing stuff for today. With no o line and a bad ankle Ben can’t move the pocket and be mobile enough. They should’ve adjusted to short underneath stuff and crossing routes a while ok. Just wow.

Game far from over,
If you remember the nightmare last year, Ravens were up 21-7 at halftime and allowed the Steelers to come back and win. Pitt only two TDs away from taking the lead. Had Denver converted that last drive into a TD instead of a FG, then perhaps the Broncos could sit on the lead. But not now.

Yes.
I find it odd that it hasn’t spread around the league yet. I get so pissed when there’s a ball bouncing around on the turf that has even a chance of being live.
To me, it’s the same as what Indy does in the hurry up. They give the ball to the official who spots it (umpire, I believe), rather than the line judge. It may only save a fraction of a second, but it saves them time. If it could potentially give you a legal advantage, why not do it?

KC Syndrome runs rampant through the city of Houston and many surrounding suberbs. Please avoid all highways both in and out as this is a highly contagious phenomenon among NFL fans that taste a liitle success from their respective teams.

BEEP BEEP?
The Texans have a better defense, running game and offensive weapons. Mess with the bull, you get the HORNS.
First of all. Stop drinking. Second of all, show some fucking respect. You’re a guest here and you’re acting like a fool.
Third of all, you’re wrong on all accounts. Rice is a much more complete back than Foster and his all purpose yards (rush/rec.) proves that as he had this most in the entire NFL.
And as for your offensive weapons, I’ll give you Andre, but you have Yates feeding the ball to him, against one of the top two or three Ds over the past DECADE. Stop embarrassing yourself and gtfo before you get banned.

One day we may find a cure, but until then we’re stuck with this nonsense.

Runs like a stone.
Flacco will be on his back atleast 5 times in the first quarter. TJ will be mobile and have Andre Johnson to throw to.

I'd take Yates over Flacco
When you think of the opposite of mobility, you think of Flacco. When you think of average qb, you think of Flacco.
Who has a better defense this year? Baltimore or Houston? Houston
Who has the best receiver? Houston
Who has the best running back? Houston
Who has the best tight end? Houston
Who has a better offense? Houston
WHO HAS A BETTER DEFENSE? H O U S T O N
Is that how you guys won last time against us?

Last game, we didn't have Andre
Now, we have the best receiver in the league. Our defense will keep us in the game and Arian Foster will put your aging defense away for the season. Atleast you won’t have far to travel after the game.
lol you also had schaub and not noodle arm yates. Is Arian going to rush for a whole 49 yards again?

I’m actually kind of sad that we won’t have a rematch with Pitt. Another chance to send them home for good would have been nice.

Timothy was balling hard.
Hilarious. If only Patriots were hurt/bad/stupid/careless enough to get Tebow’d.
Glad to see Pittsburgh didn't benefit from poor officiating today.
I think the head official was from above today.
< Facepalm >
Fail.
Well, happy to see P-burgh go down. Downside is Brady & Co. get an additional bye week… And if all goes according to plan, that means no second playoff game at home this year. Would have been nice to host the AFCG and “welcome back” the squeelers…

As Little Chance
As I gave them against P-burgh, I give them even less of a chance on the road, in the playoffs, in New England. But what do I know? I thought my one sure prediction this weekend was the squeelers over the Tebows…
Glad I don’t live in Vegas…

Yes and No
Yes, because they would be on an unbelievable roll. No, because that means they would have to play us at home. And I think we would win that game. Saints, Packers and us are the only undefeated at home teams left.

Nope. We could have beaten Denver the way they played today.
The Steelers played poor defense and their offense was meh. If they hadn’t insisted on stacking the box every play but only rushing a few guys they would have been fine. If we keep Ray Ray as a spy whenever we can and drop our safeties back to cover the deep ball we can defend what Denver showed today.
by Roa on Jan 8, 2012 9:43 PM EST up reply actions
First,
I was imagining a scenario where Denver beats NE. If Denver plays like they did today, they won’t beat NE. I also question whether Ray can keep tabs on Tebow.

I see what you mean, Zachary…. But the Ravens only need to beat their opponents… Pitt loss was just a little late Christmas gift
by Evan Skev on Jan 8, 2012 9:45 PM EST via mobile up reply actions
I think it would have been. Pittsburgh had a better chance of taking out New England than Denver does. And we want the Patriots out, so that the next game comes to our house.
Now it’s Denver at New England, and we’ve seen that already. So, even if we win next week, we’ll end up in New England.
I should know better than to cheer for the Steelers. It always jinxes them.
