Thoughts On Ben Grubbs?
Greetings Baltimore Beat Down, as we head into the offseason I've got some research to do on free agents and such and a big name that's come up a lot is Ben Grubbs. This year, we were all looking forward to an improved offensive line in Tennessee with the hiring of two Hall of Fame linemen to the coaching staff, but if anything it only got worse. This is where Grubbs comes in. I get the feeling that Baltimore won't let him walk, any thoughts on that? How's that going to work with the Ravens also having to restructure Rice and Flacco's deals? I also feel like his reputation as a really good run blocker is well deserved and that's priority number one right now down in Tennessee, but just as a bonus, how's his pass blocking? Couldn't hurt to have a solid guard protecting Jake Locker for a few years.
Thanks in advance folks, feel free to ask anything you may want to know about the Titans and any of their potential free agents.

First of all: Piss off he's ours.
Though to be nice, he’s a pro-bowl level LG who is as good as he seems. Solid in all aspects.
We’ll use our franchise tag on one of Grubbs/Rice/Flacco (probably Grubbs or Rice) and sign the other 2 outright. Maybe Grubbs walks but I doubt it really. He’s also had injury problems that made him miss a number of games this seasons which may affect his contract numbers. We don’t have a replacement on the roster and Ozzie is a good GM and won’t let Grubbs walk without someone at his level to replace him.
Rice is going to get the Franchise Tag
Joe and Ben will get signed. The loser in this cap issue may be OLB Jarret Johnson. Also CB Chris Carr will probably go as well. If we win a Super Bowl, there is a chance both Matt Birk and Ray Lewis may retire, which is even more cap space.
Word is Titans will grab the best guard in the draft.

Yeah Carr has not been good.
We give up Carr and Foxworth over the off-season. Maybe sign another CB for cover and stick with Webb-Jimmy-Cary and Gorrer/Chykie as project/depth players.

I doubt the ravens let Carr go unless its a trade. Carr is a solid cornerback but has been plagued by injuries this season i think its a little unfair
to even consider that he should be gone since he hasn’t had much playing time this season.
Like I Have Stated
Before, I think Carr may hang ’em up after this season, especially if he gets a ring. He has publicly stated before that his current contract with the Ravens will be his last as an NFL player, and then coming back from the nagging injures, further injury risk, etc, may not be worth it for him, especially if he can go out a champion.

He WIll
Start next season at age 29. He has seven NFL seasons under his belt. There have been many a player where that was about all their body could handle. Football is a violent, violent endeavor. Some bodies can weather it better than others. Remember, the average NFL career is only about three years.
Not saying he won’t come back, just wouldn’t be surprised if he didn’t.

With all the other UFA priorities, Carr could get cut if they need the space to sign Flacco/Rice/Grubbs/Gurode. I would personally put JJ and Redding in line before Carr on the priority list, not because I dislike Carr, but because I think we have more (and cheaper) depth at his position.

Don't forget
We need to sign a Center too. Cory Redding is also a UFA.
It’s going to be tough to sign Flacco/Rice/Grubbs/JJ/Gurode(Birk)/Redding.

Thoughts on Grubbs...
He does bad things to bad people.
I love it knowing that there are a handful of Ravens fans in this area who despise the fact that Joe will be our QB for the next 10 years. --Mr. MaLoR
