Former Ravens CB Chris McAlister Broke & Living With Parents
According to TMZ, former Baltimore Ravens cornerback and three-time Pro Bowler Chris McAlister says he is "broke as a joke and living with my parents." McAlister was a 1999 first round draft pick of the Ravens and played for ten years with Baltimore before being injured, released and signing with the New Orleans Saints. He was on the Ravens 2001 Super Bowl 35 winning team and aslo received a ring with the Saints, although he did not play in their Super Bowl victory over the Indianapolis Colts.
McAlister got first round money when drafted and also signed a $55 million contract in 2004, yet says, "I live in my parent's home. My parents provide me with my basic living expenses as I do not have the funds to do so." He filed papers in court asking for relief on paying $11,000 per month to his ex-wife for child support even though they were only married for 13 months, according to the story.
This is a sad piece of news to report, yet news nonetheless. It shows the depths that a star can fall to when they go from making millions to having no future income or skills despite the incredible athletic ability that they were able to showcas weekly in the NFL. Our best wishes go out to C-Mac to get it together and work out his problems.

Former NFL Pro Bowler -- I'm Dead BROKE and Living With My Parents
Former NFL bad ass Chris McAlister -- who signed a $55 MILLION contract in 2004 -- claims he's BROKE AS A JOKE and living with his parents ... this according to court docs obtained by TMZ.
The ex-Baltimore Ravens defensive superstar has just filed new documents in his child support war with his ex-wife Marlene in the hopes of lowering his $11,000 per month obligation.
In the docs, Chris -- a 1st round NFL draft pick in 1999 who played in the league for 10 years -- states, "I have been unemployed since 2009. I have no income."
He adds, "I live in my parent's home. My parents provide me with my basic living expenses as I do not have the funds to do so."
McAlister was a KEY member of the Ravens when they won the Super Bowl in 2000 ... and even got himself an interception during the big game.
McAlister was only married to Marlene for 13 months -- but she claims Chris ended the relationship in 2009 when she got pregnant and refused to get an abortion.

I despise TMZ with a passion.
At any rate, just another player that lived above his means while he was a player. I don’t understand how one could blow millions.
It’s really easy… Frighteningly easy

Agreed...
Its as easy to live outside you means with millions in the bank as it is with only $20K. Perfect example. look at all the lottery winners that end up broke quickly.

How anyone can go broke with $55 million is beyond me. I could make $5 million last me the rest of my life.

The NFL Players Association
should educate players about financial responsibility. It should be done by veteran players. These players are still kids coming out of college. You would think a guy in the league 10+ years would finally figure it out, but looks like he didn’t.
I don’t feel much sympathy for him because I’m sure there were many many signs over the years that he chose to ignore. His parents should show some tough love and kick his butt out IMO. He can’t get a real job and pay for his own place? Please. It’s hard to call a football player lazy, but that’s exactly what this guy is. Totally irresponsible – especially knowing you have kids.
Fun fact:
$55 million could keep a family of four above the poverty line for 2,460 years.

Exactly! The guy squandered his money just like he did his talent. The fact that anyone here is surprised he did that is surprising to me.

Not so fast.
I can’t remeber where i saw it but a reporter contacted him and he claims he never spoke to TMZ. They only looked at court documents. He says he is doing fine and just bought a new condo.

80% of NFL players file for bankruptcy two years after they leave the NFL. So he retired in 2009, and now it’s 2011. Talk about living up to the statistics.
I might have been wrong about Harbaugh’s doghouse. Looks like he can read people pretty well.

I heard he hasn’t retired yet so maybe he can get a job in Dallas. Has to be better than Frank Walker
