WR Malcom Floyd Re-Signs w/ SD
After being rumored to possibly be heading to the Baltimore Ravens, WR Malcom Floyd signs a two-year deal with his former team, increasing the possibility that the Ravens will try even harder to re-sign Derrick Mason.

Well Damnit
I spent the first half of today explaining why I didn’t want Mason back, and now I have to go and contradict myself by saying we should bring him back. Floyd would’ve brought a different skill set to our WR corps, but I don’t feel comfortable going into week 1 with Boldin being our only proven WR. So…..welcome back Mason…..

Mase will end up returning to Ravens, because
Titans will sign the younger guy, Cotchery (29) and Derrick will have no where else to go.

I said this yesterday and people thought I was crazy. I think Ozzie has a great history but he is not capitalizing on some great opportunities to take our team over the top this season. Leach and Pollard were great pick ups but Floyd would’ve taken us over the top.

He would have been a nice addition, but you’re talking about a receiver who has never been the number one guy before. Granted, he was overshadowed by Gates and Vincent Jackson, but filling the needs at the other positions might take us over the top, like pass rush.
Boldin is the #1. Floyd was #1 in SD last year cause VJ sat out almost the whole season. Check out his stats. He balled out.

He had less than a thousand yards and 7TDs. I guess Mason balled out too, because he had similar stats. I would have liked for us to sign him, but we might have the young talent that can contribute.
Floyd got hurt several weeks into the season
Before the injury, he was on pace for over 1000 yards. Dude is legit #1 material

As i asked yesterday
Who do we go for now? Or do we play with what we got and hope for a rookie miracle at wr?
by Georgia Raven on Aug 5, 2011 7:39 PM EDT via mobile reply actions
Obviously, we don't have a choice but to bring in Mason.
I don’t trust the young guys yet. Torrey is gonna see the field anyways regardless if Mason is here or not, so a miracle can still happen. It just sucks that now we have to rely on a rookie as our deep threat.

"Smith, who shined just down the road at University of Maryland, has had an impressive camp thus far, and should be a focal point for fans planning to attend the team’s sole open practice scheduled for Saturday at 10 am at M&T Bank Stadium.
During drills Friday, Smith adjusted to a throw from Flacco which was off the mark on a deep route and was still able to bring in the reverse shoulder grab. Later in practice, Smith made another impressive catch, this time on a cross route, before bursting up the field amidst praises from coaches on the sidelines."

I don’t understand why a lot of you all are scared to throw Torrey Smith in the fire. It’s not like Anqual isn’t on the opposite side. Anquan had a great game his first game starting in the pros. Players do it all the time. If smith is showing he is up to it, let him.

Torrey Smith is not Anquan Boldin and im pretty sure even the cardinals had some veterans in the mix for insurance.
I dont understand how any one would think inexperience/second year players that been lockout for 126 days would think automatically they will be fine and should be put in fire right away. I have never seen a team thats suppose to be a super bowl ready team put rookies in the fire right away with no veteran insurance unless it was a first round pick. When Boldin started in 2006 the cardinals were not a play off contender team or super bowl ready team.
It best to always be prepared for the worst even though it looks good right now but that dont mean it will look good later on. If anything a veteran will help these young guys improve because then not only they can learn from Boldin but another veteran that may have different skills or knowledge. Some Ravens fans just want to go with the youth because they want to see something new, something flashy, something that make them say did you see tha!!!!, and thats fine but its nothing wrong with a veteran added to the mix/production to not only provide help on the field but also guide/mentor these young guys in to becoming better wideouts.

yeah I agree with Jimmy and Cary shutting down the other teams WR’s, they’ll make anybody rushing the QB look good - Jaz

Anquan was a QB in college. No one knew he would have that kind of success.

Man I'm sick of all the fucking pessimism around here lately
Its honestly getting ridiculous. All the people whining and bitchin that this team isn’t capable of going to the Super Bowl, its getting really old. Guys acting like they could run this football team better than Ozzie. “Oh no, we lost some guys in Free Agency”! Well it happens every year, to every team, so get over it. Flacco is improving, Rice is a badass, Leach is arguably the best blocking FB in the NFL, Boldin is a proven receiver, Torrey and Doss are the youth that we’ve lacked for years, we now have I tight end that doesn’t play injured 14 weeks a year, believe it or not I strongly feel our O line will be better, Kindle/Kruger/Jones all look ready to contribute, Ray Lewis is the biggest locker room presence in all of football, Fox is a decent starting CB, Webb is one year more removed from an ACL tear, Carr is a versatile leader, Jimmy has all the potential you could ask for, Pollard IMO is a step up from Landry, Reed is the same ball hawk we’ve seen for years now. I can’t believe how many people are taking this team for granted. What do you it would be like to be a Bengals fan? Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but personally I’m going to whip up a batch of purple kool-aid, sit back, and watch this team hoist the Lombardi. And to all the non-believers, I’ll end by saying….have a little faith, this team is going to turn a lot of heads.

REC'D
Everybody wants no weaknesses at all and a pro-bowler at ever position and nobody has that. Our core is just as good as anybody’s and I can’t wait to hear what everybody has to say when we win the division.
On Ed Reed:

"We all learn from each other, but we all learn most from him."
