Official Ravens Press Release: Lee Evans

The Baltimore Ravens have acquired standout WR Lee Evans from the Buffalo Bills in exchange for a 2012 draft pick, executive vice president/general manager Ozzie Newsome announced Friday afternoon.

Entering his eighth NFL season, Evans, 30, has compiled 377 receptions for 5,934 yards and 43 touchdowns. He has missed only three games during his career, having started 102 of 109 contests.

Last year, the 5-10, 197-pound first-round draft pick (13th overall from Wisconsin in 2004) played in 13 games, totaling 37 catches for 578 yards (15.6 ypc) and four touchdowns. "Our fans will remember him from his outstanding game against us last season," Newsome said of Evans, who registered six catches for 105 yards and three touchdowns in the Bills’ 37-34 defeat at Baltimore. "He’s a quality veteran receiver who stretches the field and gives us a significant downfield presence.  He’s the type of person you want on your team. He brings leadership and maturity to the locker room."

Since Evans entered the NFL (past seven seasons), his 15.7 yards-per-catch average ranks as the league’s 12th-best mark. He has 56 catches of 25-or-more yards during this time, tying Green Bay’s Greg Jennings for 10th most in the NFL. In 2006, Evans set career highs in catches (83) and yards (1,292), also producing eight touchdowns."We’re excited about getting Lee Evans," head coach John Harbaugh added. "He’s a proven player in this league and a quality person who will fit in well on our team. We’re all looking forward to going to work with him."
