Ravens @ Eagles: Gametime 'Open Thread'

Stick here with Baltimore Beatdown to post your comments, thoughts and opinions in the 'Open Thread' on tonight's 2011 pre-season opener between your Baltimore Ravens at the Philadelphia Eagles. While this is considered a meaningless exhibition game, it now takes on greater importance due to the loss of all the OTA's and mini-camps because of the NFL Lockout.

However, do not blink or you will miss many of the Ravens star players, who will play as little as one series and certainly not more than the first quarter. At the same time, you will get extended looks of the veteran backups, rookies and undrafted free agents who should have a decent chance to prove their value to the team.

One of the guys who will be closely watched is backup rookie QB Tyrod Taylor, who is expected to play at least two quarters of the game, and will be given every opportunity to earn the role as starting QB Joe Flacco's backup. Keep an eye on the wide receivers, who will be vying for roster spots as depth behind Anquan Boldin, rookies Torrey Smith and Tandon Doss. Also, watch the battle for the cornerback positions as well as who will end up starting at safety next to Ed Reed.

After this year

they’ll move it back to the 30 again.

Cundiff will have 95 touchbacks!

Yeah, if he holds true, that rule pretty much guarantees him a 100% Touchback rate for the season

That was fairly out of character for Carr. It’s pretty rare to see him get burnt at all, let alone get burnt that badly.

I like Fox honestly. Personally I’ve never been a carr fan. I think he’s average at best and we over paid him. I think we should’ve kept Pistol but that’s just my opinion. I put Carr at 3 because I know some of you would chastise me by saying he’s such a solid CB. But I would like to REALLY see:
Smith
Fox
Webb
Carr/Williams

Good idea

Let’s just put in 5 more receivers and let the QB scramble from the shotgun.
