Monday's "Cup of Joe"

Three-person back-bump after epic win? I think yes. And sorry for the Orioles pics, not alot of new Ravens pictures coming in lately...

Happy Birthday America!!! I hope every-one has a safe and wonderful July 4th. But without any further ado, here's today's fresh-hot "Cup of Joe"!!!

2012 NFL Mock Draft: Baltimore Ravens Look for Successor to Safety Ed Reed | Bleacher Report

The Baltimore Ravens' first two selections in the 2011 NFL Draft were savvy picks, grabbing a top corner in Jimmy Smith and a potential diamond in the rough in Maryland receiver Torrey Smith. But there are still questions to be answered.

Stallworth has mixed feelings about Ravens season

Donte' Stallworth is eternally grateful for how the Baltimore Ravens gave him a job and a valuable second chance following his suspension and jail sentence for a driving under the influence manslaughter conviction. "Yeah, there's mixed feelings," Stallworth said in a telephone interview. "The organization was nothing but great to me. I appreciate the opportunity they gave me. The guys were great and the fans welcomed me. They tell me all the time they hope things work out for me and that I would come back. From the foot injury standpoint, it definitely derailed a lot of things that I was looking forward to doing."

NFL.com news: Sophomore surge: Teams hoping second-year players emerge

Terrence Cody, DT, Baltimore Ravens: Cody didn't make a significant contribution as a rookie, but his hulking presence in the middle of the Ravens' defense free up Haloti Ngata to wreak havoc on foes. As an immovable force at the point of attack, he is capable of eating up (no pun intended) double teams, which would allow his teammates to flow freely to the ball without hesitation.

Ravens Success Should Increase As Flacco Matures | Football News Now

There has been talk during the offseason concerning Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco and concern by some that the team can’t win with him at quarterback, but more specifically not win against Ben Roethlisberger and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Cody and Flacco

Cody is going to be a big time player(if he keeps his weight within reason) and will be matched against Pouncey for awhile..Looking forward to this!! Flacco is a good and solid QB who can win a Superbowl. It seems to me that the Defense has let him down at times but the game that stands out most to me was the 2010 loss to the steelers. Flacco was shaken and rattled, this can NEVER happen to a QB. Will he over come this? Who knows! We will see soon enough. Too much has been made of him not beating BB. Some justified, some not. The main thing is beating BB in a big spot, not just any game. But then again, steelers-ravens are always big games1

truth... regular season wins are great

Flacco is a great QB or else he wouldn’t have so many haters… we’re a one and out playoff team thanks to some questionable coaching and a tough 3rd quarter in the divisional.

Both teams have favorable schedules with the Ravens having a 12 week vacation with two weeks off in the first 3 months of the season… they should have 10 wins by the Niners game.

thanks for the input

Flacco was shaken and rattled, this can NEVER happen to a QB.

Cam changed the gameplan to being more conservative. Flacco wasn’t rattled. Joe was making throws till the end of the game, but our WRs decided to wash the stick-um off their gloves.

Great point

Flacco threw a bullseye to Boldin for a TD… it was dropped and we left 4 points and the lead on the field…

Flacco throws another ball on the money on 4th down… we all know what happened.

He looks great to me…

It was a catchable pass but not a great pass

It should have been thrown to his gut, not below his waist

Absolutely. A guy with 4 (if not more) 250lb+ men coming at him with every intention of hurting him should be able to deliver a ball perfectly EVERY TIME. Why lay the blame at the feet of a guy who gets paid millions of dollars every year to CATCH a ball?

Absolutely. Why blame the guy who will make at least double what the receivers make.

To throw the ball to a spot where the receiver can make the catch in the most crucial game of the year.

It was actually a great throw, from a guy who “makes at least double what the receivers make” because unlike the receivers the ball goes through his hands on every play. Every play there’s guys who’s objective it is to bring him down and hurt him in the process.

If you watch that play again it was actually a perfect pass. There was a defender on both sides of Boldin breaking on the ball and that was actually the only spot to put it without a defender knocking it down. Terrific pass, but bad catch.

I think Boldin was expecting the ball in his gut

That short of distance for a throw didn’t give him time to drop to his knees and catch the ball. It looks like he’s still dropping as the ball hits him, and he has to angle back a little as well.

A WR is expected to catch anything that hits your hands. If you are able to get both hands on it then the ball should be caught. If Flacco throws that ball anywhere else it’s either knocked down or intercepted. A pro-bowl caliber WR should catch that ball.

And a baseball player should catch anything that hits his glove.

Where do you come up with such bullshit lines. And if the bowling ball hits the 1-3 pocket perfect you should get a strike, but it always doesn’t happen. Nine times out of ten he will catch that pass, but it is not always a given.

by TheShadow on Jul 4, 2011 9:50 PM EDT up reply actions

Yeah actually a baseball player should catch everything that hits his glove. I’m not saying it always happens, but they should make those plays which is why you can’t blame the pass on Joe because it’s a play that should be made. He put the ball exactly where it needed to be and can’t be at fault for the drop. That’s why the play was recorded as a drop because it was a catch that should have been made.

It does look like the ball was right there

But with Boldin having to go down and come back there is a chance it would not have even been a touchdown. If he hit him in the gut it is a touchdown, but with the ball having a downward trajectory he had to drop and come back for it. It’s all a mute point because the defense sucked on the Steelers next possession anyway.

The point in the game..

He threw an awful pic..(which they all do at times) and the fumbled snap…very bad timing.

… and the fumbled snap…

I can’t remember the last time I saw a QB pick up a snap off the center’s thigh. I’m not sure how you can blame that one on Flacco.

Water covers 2/3 of the Earth's surface. Ed Reed covers the rest.

An opinion can be well-founded or poorly informed. Opinion and reason are not mutually exclusive.

Not half as bad as Ben's pic in the big game...

If Ben doesn’t try to throw the hero ball on that play, the Steelers may be champs…

by Evan Skev on Jul 5, 2011 11:04 AM EDT up reply actions

I did say THEY all throw pics..

To be fair, BB pic was awful, but he did threw 2 TDs in the game to and if not for Rashards fumble, they would have been champs..again!

Ben threw two horrible INTs

Rashard fumbled once… Ben also stared down his WR on the final drive.

Ben made rookie mistakes in the big game and looked rattled at the end when he stared down Mike Wallace… hoping Wallace would get open and save the day.
