Another great move by Ozzie, best FB in the league. I’m sure Ray Rice is thrilled right now.

Vonta Leach’s three-year $11 million contract is right in line with what he was looking for Texans wouldn’t go that high, though Ravens did.

the texans are crazy thats not even alot of money really

yeah but I honestly thought Vontae Leach would want more money than that

I actually thought that was a little more than we were going to pay for a FB. But Leach is in a whole other class as a FB. He’s big, tough and mean. Reminds me a lot of Lorenzo Neal, which I loved when we got him.
A great signing and now you can really see in what direction we are heading as a team. We are looking to become that smashmouth running style with the big plays in the air.

well for me it is but in football terms not not alot of money he last contract was for 8 million 4 years
he only got 3 millon more from his last contract

"If you're running behind him for 16 games, you'll lead the NFL in rushing"
Rice will owe him a nice watch or a few steak dinners by the end of the season.
He turned arian foster into the leagues leading rusher last year. And they dnt exactly have the strongest offensive line

This move will be huge in helping us in short yard situations. We struggled there and in the redzone at times last season and he is the key to picking up those short yards along with getting Yanda back at G. I’m expecting a much different running game this season.

Dont expect us handing it off to leach too much. Hes not a rushing FB thats what I love about him. He’ll allow rice to pick up those short yards

hahaha...check out the career stats
2 rushes, 4 receptions, 6 Touchdowns!

Teams are probably so shocked he’s carrying the rock, he just waltzes into the endzone.
Ok, I need to learn to read...

Haha
A receiving fullback could add an interesting aspect to the offense. Hes a strong blocker and can catch it? I love this move

Well we still could maybe use another RB unless we are happy with what we got. Rice needs somebody to take some carries from him so we don’t over work him. I don’t want McClain, but hopefully one of these young guys step up or we bring in somebody else.

The Ravens have two veterans in Matt Lawrence and Jalen Pamele
and some very interesting young rookies in Allen and Berry( sounds like a tv show for some reason lol) anything can really and I saw a article stating that ravens have alot of talent in the running back postion and they may not need to sign a veteran runningback

I'll take a 2nd running back, tyvm.
No need for Rice to have more than 300 carries/season (15-20 a game sounds good to me), considering I expect somewhere around 55-70 catches as well.
Also, it’s inherently a 2 back system with a FB. Just sayin’.

I'd put money on Rice to get 14-1500 rushing yards easy this year*
Big signing for us. Leach was the guy who really let Foster break out last year.
Exactly
He’s a great fullback and will do wonders for Rice’s longetivity

I think one of the undrafted guards/centers will be a good replacement for chester
and If Jah Reid keeps impressing coaches like he is now then we may not need a RT at all

Well Tatupu plays MLB and we wouldn’t have to give up anything for him. I personally think Osi would be more of a situational player in our D and I think he will want starter money.

I dont think he would be situational. On the contrary I think he would be an every down player. Great pass rusher all around. And hes nor as small as people think

I believe he’s only 265 or 270 tops, so that eliminates him playing end all the time and I don’t think he can stand up and rush the passer.

That was playing DE, I’m talking about standing up as an OLB. He’s only 261. He can’t play end in our defense he would have to stand up.

exactly he has never tried. I’m not saying he’s not a great pass rusher I think he is, but it’s different doing it standing up and with your hand in the dirt. I don’t expect a 29 year old to all of a sudden learn a new position and have to learn how to drop into coverage. He would get destroyed on run downs playing at 261, so he couldn’t play end. He would just be a situational pass rusher for us and I personally don’t think we should give the money he will look for plus draft picks just for a situational player.

whats wrong with Cory Reddings he start to turn it up in the pass rush
department later on in the season and Paul Krugar was showing promise as well because he constantly seemed to be in quarterback faces when ever he was on the field. Plus you cant forget about arthur jones who coaches seem to think will be a great player but overall I think it be a waste to add another defensive linemen when you already crowded with some

This is wonderful news.
And, after watching some Ray Rice ‘09 highlights, I’m wondering how much his knee was affecting him in 2010. I don’t really remember any plays like some in this video (e.g. Vikings, :48; Bengals, 1:32; Vikings, 3:21) last year.
Perhaps I am simply not remembering them, or he did the same thing without breaking it for a big play. I certainly remember Rice going into plenty of piles last year and ‘magically’ appearing on the other side for 5-7 yards. But I long for the Rice that would take hits from LBs. Opposing players and fans would think the play was over. Not only would he not go down, but he also often made those teams pay as he waltzed into the endzone.
And even if my observations are faulty, it’s not like watching Ray Rice highlights is ever a bad thing.

Great news but ...
Le’Ron McClain just signed with the Chiefs. I know the writing was on the wall and everything, but I kind of wanted to see him brought back anyway. Other people have said that having Vonta Leach will be like when we had Lorenzo Neal at fullback, but we also had Le’Ron as our bruiser that year too. I just really like the style of football where the power running game is the catalyst for the offense, and this could have been even better than a few years ago, since Leach is obviously younger than Neal was then.
I’m sure McClain didn’t like the fact that we went out and got another fullback, but he also wanted to be a bigger factor in the running game, so he could have been convinced by having Leach as HIS lead blocker in his packages.
