Ravens Rookie Torrey Smith Agrees To Contract
After being the Baltimore Ravens 2nd round pick in this past April's 2011 NFL Draft, the team has just announced that WR Torrey Smith has signed a four-year contract. The product of the University of Maryland should now be able to get on the field when the Ravens hold their first practice on Thursday at 1pm at their Owings Mill Practice Facility.
Terms of the deal have not been released as of the writing of this story, but based on the new rookie wage scale, the length of the deal will be four years. See more on this story at BaltimoreRavens.com.

We need to get Jimmy signed ASAP so he can get his ass to camp.

Agreed. Reid needs to as well considering he is competing for a starting position. Our first 4 picks are really important for us to get in there ASAP.
On Ed Reed:
"I’ve told him to his face many times, ‘You’re the greatest safety ever to play the game,’"
"We all learn from each other, but we all learn most from him."
- Troy Polamalu
Ya, its probably just as important to get Reid signed as well. Him, Jimmy, and Torrey have the biggest chances of making an immediate impact. I’d still like to see Jimmy starting from Day 1, the best way to learn how to swim is by getting thrown in the deep end.

On a positive note
We still pretty much have the same defense we put on the field last year. The offensive line hasn’t changed and half the receivers that left we weren’t throwing to anyway. We didn’t utilize Willis or LeRon to our best ability. Without the usual fuck ups against the Steelers we make it to the super bowl with this team.
Well said
How uncharacteristically optimistic of you Shadow. Plus, we now have Jimmy, a burner in Torrey, and I’d be surprised if we didn’t end up with a better blocking FB. Now its just a matter of Cam using the tools he has.

It may take a couple weeks incorporating those guys into the system
But every team will have that problem. Most of our competition drafted late in the first round so nobody really has someone to just step in and be perfect. And teams that need their draft to start just gives us an advantage.
