NFL.com's Kirwan Rates Ravens Safety Tandem Tops
After dissing so many players on the Baltimore Ravens in other positional rankings, NFL.com's Pat Kirwan has turned to liking some of the defensive stars and focuses now on the safety position. Ranking Ray Lewis and Terrell Suggs in the inside and outside linebacker positions, respectively, he puts the combination of free safety Ed Reed and strong safety Dawan Landry at the top of his list as a team.
Ed Reed is obviously ranked in the "A" group and Landry is in the "B" group. No other team in the league has both safeties ranked in those top two groupings. Joining Reed in the top group are Green Bay’s Nick Collins, Detroit’s Louis Delmas, Pittsburgh’s Troy Polamalu and Seattle’s Earl Thomas. Along with Landry in the "B" group are Kansas City’s Eric Berry, Antoine Bethea from the Indianapolis Colts, Roman Harper from the New Orleans Saints and Washington’s LaRon Landry.
It must be nice for the parents of both Dawan and LeRon to see their boys ranked in the same high group of players, but at the same time, the value of the player gives the Ravens the advantage, as Dawan was a fifth round draft pick while LaRon was a first rounder.

Landry in the B group but Suggs in the E group. That is laughable, even us Ravens fans know Landry is not in the same class as his brother or Berry.
Flacco's first 3 years vs. Brady's, Manning's and Brees' first 3 years
Flacco threw for just 21 fewer passing yards than Brady and tossed four fewer interceptions. Flacco threw for 1,655 more yards than Brees, two more touchdowns and four fewer picks. Manning, who averaged 88 more passes per season, threw for way more yards and touchdowns than Flacco, but also tossed 24 more interceptions.
Idk
Landry is pretty good hes a great tackleR

Yeah his rankings are crazy. Roman Harper is also in group B and I distinctly remember watching some saints games at the end of the year and seeing Harper get burned all the time. He wasn’t just getting beat he started becoming a liability. I would have to see the rest of the rankings, but I would think there are some better safeties than some that were in that group.

Seriously Bruce
Stop posting Kirwan’s rankings, the guy is a jackass. I’d rather see a list of rankings from your Bulldog….hey, that’s not a bad idea.

Hmmm,....not a bad idea
Murphy (my bulldog) couldn’t do any worse. However, he’s such a homer, he’d put Joe Flacco ahead of Matt Ryan AND Mark Sanchez as QB’s, which we all know is whacked!

Off topic, but Chris Carr said he really wants to come back, but only if he has a big role here. Does anybody think that may cause any issues when trying to re-sign him? I don’t how big if that means a starter or nickel, but if he means starter I think that could end up being a potential issue. Foxworth is probably for sure a starter and then I think it’s only a matter of time before Jimmy becomes one. I think he is ahead of Webb right now, but Webb has shown flashes of being a very capable starter and if he improves he could challenge Carr for that 3 spot.

I’d be scared of Foxworth started game 1. He would get torched by Wallace coming off his injury. I’d start Carr, Wilson, Webb, or Smith over him.

They will definitely be putting Webb on Wallace, they have matched up every time and Webb has shut him down. My guess is Webb and Carr start week 1.

I’m hoping we keep Webb on him again. Webb did a great job guarding him last year, so I don’t see any reason to switch it up.

Ya, I read that too
If he’s content with playing Nickle, them we’re fine. But if he wants to start, then we might have a problem. Webb came out last week and said he’s going to make a strong push for a starting position, Foxworth is already getting paid like a starter, and we all know its only a matter of time until Jimmy is starting. So, what do we do….

That’s what I’m wondering. I could see Carr potentially starting week one, but I don’t see him holding onto that spot as the season goes on. Is a big role starting or just seeing the field consistently? I’m just not sure what he considers a big role, so it will be interesting to see how that plays out. Between Jimmy, Foxworth, Webb, Carr and Wilson any two could wind up being the starter at any given point so I don’t think the coaches will even know what his role will look like.
