Monday's "Cup of Joe"

Hey guys sorry for yesterday's lack of a "Cup of Joe", I had some important things I needed to take care of, and never got around to it. Once, again I''m truly sorry. But alas, here's today's fresh-hot "Cup of Joe"!

Ravens Could Take Flier On Pryor " Baltimore Ravens Blogs

Mike Duffy thinks the Ravens could take a chance on Terrelle Pryor and convert him to WR, with the mentor-ship of Anquan Boldin. I think Narnia should be where our new stadium is, and we should start Marc Bulger after re-signing him to the biggest contract in the history of the NFL.

NFL.com news: Agent says LB Kindle 'extra hungry' to show Ravens his worth

Linebacker Sergio Kindle has been cleared to play for the Baltimore Ravens after missing all last season with a head injury, but his agent, Joel Segal, isn't expecting a long-term contract just yet. "Serg was obviously on a small contract (a one-year deal last season) and, hopefully, once he's healthy and ready to go, it will be a contract we expect. ... He has been working out hard, he's obviously extra hungry. He's focused, ready. You know, now he's just got to get some contact and show everybody that he's the old Sergio Kindle."

Ravens' LB McClain stresses value of fitness, school to kids - Carroll County Times:

Jameel McClain peered into the gym bleachers, his eyes met by a crowd of curious, budding football players as he delivered a message about the importance of education. It's good to see people making a stand, considering child-obesity is becoming more and more common in US.

Fans Can Still Watch Camp At Stadium | Football News Now

Citing a concern for football readiness, Baltimore Ravens President Dick Cass told the Baltimore Sun that the club missed several cutoff dates before finally deciding this week to move training camp from McDaniel College in Westminster, Md. to the team’s regular facility in Owings Mills, Md. But according to the report, there will still be some open practices.

Even if the Ravens do put in a bid for Pryor I’m pretty sure we would get out bid. I couldn’t see us putting in more than a 6th and I’m sure there will be some team in love with his athletic ability who puts in a higher bid.

I see the Redskins giving up a 3 or 4. Shanahan(sp?) needs a QB with some talent.

Washington is my guess as well. Seeing as how they chose not to pick a QB in the draft, they would be wise to take a chance on Pryor. I can only imagine how much Redskins fans want to see a new face at QB, and we all know Beck is not the answer.

Why the hate?
I think Narnia should be where our new stadium is, and we should start Marc Bulger after re-signing him to the biggest contract in the history of the NFL.

Talent is talent no matter where you find it. Pryor certainly has much of it and I’m onboard with the Ravens putting in a bid for the kid.

The guy does have talent but I beleive he wants to play as a quarterback and The Ravens

already draft a quarterback in Tyrod Taylor.

We don’t need him. We have Flacco and Tyrod Taylor. Terrelle would be a waste of a roster spot especially if they move him over to WR

I’d be ok with using a 6th, or possibly even a 5th to grab him and let him come battle it out with Taylor for the backup QB job. I’d prefer having a veteran, but a competition between those two would probably bring out the best in them.

You know, I don’t think that’s a bad idea at all. As much as I loved Tyrod’s production in college (even though I’m a Terps fan), he is only 6ft. tall…reminds me of Troy Smith. I am not keen on Pryor’s maturity, but he has great size, but unknown intangibles and pro-style mechanics. I wouldn’t mind taking a chance with a 6th or 7th round pick to have him come in and compete. I’m sure he wants to prove everyone wrong.

by JoshuaStein on Jun 27, 2011 2:32 PM EDT up reply actions

not a 5th

But I see your logic. I don’t see the point though in having 2 rookies on your roster at QB because a serious injury to flacco would practically end the season

Yeah, despite whoever would win the battle I still wouldn’t feel comfortable with either one stepping in for Joe. What I’m suggesting is cutting the loser of the battle, and having him sit under Joe and our backup veteran.

I don’t really know if we even need to bring someone in to help our pass rush. Personally, I feel all the pieces we need are already here, especially if Kindle can come back. We also have Jimmy Smith now, and if he can take out the other teams #1 guy, then our guys will have more time to get to the quarterback. And to here that Ngata has slimmed down and is now even more athletic than before, makes me very excited to see a more aggressive defense this year.

We should bring back Antwan Barnes. He’ll cost nothing, and he’s an awesome pass rusher. Let him and Kindle battle for a spot in training camp.

I wouldn’t mind bringing Barnes back, if we have to make room on the roster we could always let Cary Williams go.

if we have to make room on the roster we could always let Cary Williams go.

Then who would fill the role of Nnamdi for us?

Flacco's first 3 years vs. Brady's, Manning's and Brees' first 3 years

Flacco threw for just 21 fewer passing yards than Brady and tossed four fewer interceptions. Flacco threw for 1,655 more yards than Brees, two more touchdowns and four fewer picks. Manning, who averaged 88 more passes per season, threw for way more yards and touchdowns than Flacco, but also tossed 24 more interceptions.

all this Cary Williams hate lol It will be something if he turns out to be a shut down cornerback and dominate for the rest of the season

It will be something if he’s on the final roster come September.

not sure how thats so inconceivable

He may or may not it just depends on who we keep and who signs elsewhere

I know. I’m just giving the guy a hard time. But o if bring back Foxworth, resign either Wilson or Carr, keep Chykie on the active roster, then we’ll have Foxworth, Wilson/Carr, Webb, Smith, Brown, 5 CB’s (and let’s not forget Ruki plays a lot of Dime as well). Now having 6 CB’s on the roster isn’t necessarily unheard of, but what other position to you take depth away from to keep room for Cary on the roster? Although I feel there’s a strong chance we keep Chykie on the inactive list and continue to use Cary, but I guess we’ll see.

well Cary Williams/ Chykie Brown could turn out to be a safety which could turn out like this

CB: Foxworth,Wilson/Carr,Webb, Smith, Brown
S: Reed, Zibbi, Ruki, Williams

                     or
Cb, Foxworth,WIlson/Carr.Webb.Smith. Wliams
S: Reed,Zibbi,Ruki, Brown

I would like to say as well that since the nfl is thinking of allowing teams to expand their roster beyound a 52 man roster then it probably wouldnt be such a concern to have six cornerbacks.

I never liked us getting rid of Barnes. He looked great going into the season and I really thought he was going to have a nice year for us.

Yup, yup.

After Suggs, he was / still would be our second best pass rusher.
