Wes Bunting of the National Football Post is projecting which rookies will be the best at their respective positions in the 2011 NFL season. His story with his projections of the 2011 All-Rookie team lists most of the top players picked in the first round of the recent draft, including WR Julio Jones, RB Mark Ingram, OT Tyron Smith, but not the first overall selection, QB Cam Newton.
Instead he projects Minnesota Vikings QB Christian Ponder to lead off the All-Rookie team, as well as Detroit Lions WR Titus Young over the Cincinnati Bengals' A.J. Green. Most likely, the talent, or rather the lack of it around Newton and Green will make it difficult for those two to succeed at the level the others that Bunting projects for the All-Rookie team.
Defensively, he likes Denver Broncos LB Von Miller, Detroit Lions DT Nick Fairley and Arizona Cardinals CB Patrick Peterson. In addition, he projects the Baltimore Ravens new CB, Jimmy Smith, to be one of the four corners, along with the aforementioned Peterson, Houston Texans Brandon Harris and the San Diego Chargers' Marcus Gilchrist, but not the New York Giants' Prince Amukamara.
