Ravens' Players Hold Workout
Approximately 27 players on the Baltimore Ravens showed up Tuesday morning at local Towson University to hold a player's-only workout at Johnny Unitas Stadium. The practice was closed to the public, but media, including Baltimore Beatdown was invited. The players will also practice on Wednesday and Thursday, but those two days are closed to media as well.
Some of the players in attendance included Joe Flacco, Ray Rice, Jarret Johnson, Haruki Nakamura, Anquan Boldin, Derrick Mason, Jameel McClain and Cory Redding. Rookie wide receivers Torrey Smith and Tandon Doss showed up as well. Notable no-shows included Ray Lewis and most of the defense. It was good to see CB Domonique Foxworth taking part in light conditioning drills with the rest of the team. Fellow CB Josh Wilson was also there, as was defensive linemen Lamar Divens, Brandon McKinney, and Arthur Jones, with his continuous smile on his face.
Special Teams was represented with placekicker Billy Cundiff, punter Sam Koch and long snapper Morgan Cox. Also noted there were tight ends Dennis Pitta and Davon Drew. More notes from this morning's practice, including photos as well as individual player interviews, to follow.

Wish more defensive guys would have made it out there, but there is really nothing they can do as far as drills in a light practice. Good to see JJ and Jameel, the CB’s, and some DL show up.
Love that The Leg Squad made it out there as well (Koch, Cundiff and Cox). Wonder if Koch was working with Anthony Allen to show him how to carry the ball in big time situations.
"No disrespect to Patrick Peterson and Prince Amukamara, but I just think I have better cover skills. They get tested a lot, and that’s for a reason. The other team sees something in their game that they want to attack, and me playing in the same league as Prince, we played the same teams and they didn’t attack me the same. So why does that happen?" - CB Jimmy Smith
Agreed about the defense. I think some are going to make it a big deal that Jimmy wasn’t there, but those type of practices really are more suited for offensive guys and more specifically QB’s and WR’s. I’m really glad that Torrey and Doss made it out and the only guy I wish would have been there is David Reed. WR and QB are the most important positions to have chemistry and every little throwing session helps. That #3 WR spot is up for grabs and should be a very interesting battle once all the CBA crap gets figured out.
Jimmy doesn't need to show up just yet
Why risk an injury to your future defensive star. If the Lockout goes deeper into the summer and the practices grow more frequent, he’ll be there.

Jimmy also hasn’t got paid yet. He may not be able to afford a plane ticket and a hotel.

I’m sure someone would have covered him. I doubt guys like Torrey could have afforded the costs themselves either. (unless he borrowed some money)
That said this wasn’t the type of practice conducive to defensive players and it isn’t a big deal at all that Jimmy missed it but it would have been nice if he had shown up.
Nice memories
At least we got the ball back. Run Sam, run!
The only defensive players there were JJ, Haruki, Jameel, Foxworth, Divens, McKinney, Art Jones, Wilson —-I think…

Was the practice around 4:20? That could explain it.
