Baltimore Ravens 2011 Draft Class Video
The Baltimore Ravens drafted eight players in the 2011 NFL Draft, completed late last month. Here is a video with some footage of each draft pick, from the team's first round selection, CB Jimmy Smith (Colorado) through seventh round pick, RB Anthony Allen (Georgia Tech). In between, you will see clips of WR Torrey Smith (Maryland), OT Jah Reid (Central Florida), WR Tandon Doss (Indiana), CB Chykie Brown (Texas), DL Pernell McPhee (Mississippi State) and QB Tyrod Taylor (Virginia Tech).
Looking at the player's collegiate highlights, it gives you the feeling that General Manager Ozzie Newsome and his supporting team of Director of Player Personnel Eric DeCosta and Director of Scouting Joe Hortiz, did their collective homework and brought in a solid group of players to help fill the holes that have prevented the Ravens from getting to the next level.
If the labor dispute ever gets settled, all Ravens fans should be stoked to see what these kids can contribute and if they live anywhere up to their expectations, Baltimore fans should plan on being very busy watching football in February of next year.

I really love this video. You can see a theme in these selections. They’re all hard-nosed, tough players.
I still cannot believe we got Allen in the 7th round. That guy runs like a freight train.
I really like Allen and think he can give us some great production. He is tough to bring down and has pretty good speed considering his size. I love that he comes in here with a chip on his shoulder and is really determined because you need that as a 7th rounder to try and make the team which I think he will.
I also love the Tandon Doss pick and think he potentially could end up even being better than Torrey. Torrey has the speed over him, but I think Doss is more ready in about every other area and just looks like a guy with a good football IQ. I think Doss might be the most pro ready young WR we have and I expect him to contribute right away. This could be an amazing draft where we see our first four picks potentially being Starters or big time contributors right away.
The more I watch and read on Torrey, the more I think he’s a complete receiver.
He’s an athletic freak and is bigger than he looks… which is a good thing.
Agreed. I will admit I was one of the people who had him down on my board and personally wanted Little, but I am liking Torrey the more I read about him. I do still think though he has a lot to work on.Drops aren’t so much the problem with his hands as much as catching the ball away from your body and catching the ball at it’s highest point. He has an amazing vertical and great size, but he doesn’t go up after the ball and just lets it fall into his hands which you can’t do in the NFL. If he can learn to attack the ball at it’s highest point I think he could also be a deadly red zone threat as well.

I was high on Little as well, but the fact that they passed over Little and took Smith eases all my concerns.
If they wanted Little or rated him higher, they could have drafted him. That’s good enough for me.

Wrong in so many ways. Torrey has been one of the best jump ball players I have got to watch over the last 3 years. He has a 41 inch vertical and uses every bit of it on jump balls. We ran the lob pass to him many times at MD.
"No disrespect to Patrick Peterson and Prince Amukamara, but I just think I have better cover skills. They get tested a lot, and that’s for a reason. The other team sees something in their game that they want to attack, and me playing in the same league as Prince, we played the same teams and they didn’t attack me the same. So why does that happen?" - CB Jimmy Smith
Will be.

I obviously haven’t got to see him as much as you, but on his highlight tape you clearly see on more than one occasion of him letting the ball fall to him rather than going up and getting it and not catching it away from his body. No doubt he has an amazing vertical, but you can’t use it to your advantage if you let the ball fall to you. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LzlJ_FFB9m0
Good Video.
Pernell McPhee looks like another vocal leader on defense. First Team All College(SEC) Conference. He could be more of a steal than I thought.
That one hand catch by Doss, damn! He didn’t even use the tip of the ball to catch it.
Chykie looks long and seems to have good insticts when the ball is in the air.
Torrey looks amazing at catching the over the shoulder deep pass. Joe’s gonna love that.
Jimmy looks like a fast, playmaking giant.
Anthony Allen running behind our massive line and possibly McClain is going to frighten people.
Yup, and that is basically like being a pro bowl player in the NFL. Tough to make 1st team in that conference, especially with how many talented DL there were last year (Dareus, Fairley, Matthews, Nevis).
