The Ravens just selected CB Jimmy Smith in the first round of the NFL draft. In this video, Smith talks with Fox Sports about his game and character concerns. I was a little skeptical because of those character concerns, but after hearing Smith tell his side of the story in this video, I feel much better.
There's no doubt Smith's an elite corner. As this video details, opposing quarterbacks only threw his way 20 times in his senior season. I think he's the second most-talented corner in the draft. If he keeps his nose clean, Smith will be considered a huge steal.

We have a top 10 secondary now, no doubt about it
Smith as a future #1 with Foxworth, Wilson, Webb and Carr behind him is going to be nasty!

waste of a pick
we have glaring needs in the trenches. all the players that could have filled those needs are gone now.
Jimmy Smith is a top 15 talent, Ozzie doesn’t let those players get by him. He drank a little underage, who hasn’t?

Exactly, everyone needs to stop holding these guys at a standard that would make them inhumane. If he hasnt done anything since 2008, we have the best steal in the draft.

Yea, he got in trouble as an 18 year old freshman and hasn’t had any problems since then I believe. Ray and Ed are going to woop him into shape.

I think ppl need to stop saying that as well. “Ray and Ed is going to whip him into shape”, he isnt a child. Let the guy play ball.
I love this pick. Last year i wished we took Cromartie. Now we have a physical version of Cromartie. 6’2" 218lbs. The guy will be abeast next year barring injuries or stairs.

The guy is only 21 years old, he is pretty young. And I don’t mean it like Ray and Ed are going to tell him he better not screw up or else he will get punished for it. I simply mean that Ray and Ed are going to show this guy the way of bringing out the best of his top 10 talent.

Players at positions of need who may go in rounds 2 & 3
Elaborating on what MaLoR says above, and ranking them in a very vague order of quality.
As you can see below, the depth in rounds 2&3 is at wide receiver, interior OL, OLB, running back, CB, and to a lesser extent safety.
ILB and OT is weak here. Very thin. DE is not too deep either.
Fullback has quality but not much demand-several of these guys will be available in day 3 although their quality is day 2.
The deepest position for rounds 2 and 3 may well be cornerback and yes, it is possible that we might pick up a second who we think would be better than say Cary Williams. The depth here extends into rounds 4-5.
If we pick up an OL guy it is much more likely that guy will be a G or C than a T.
QB-Dalton, Kaepernick, Stanzi
WR-Young, Hankerson, Jerrigan, Torrey Smith, Cobb, Paul, Gates, Salas, Doss, Brown, Tolliver, Little, Gates, Pettis
OT-Ijalana, Gilbert, Cannon, Franklin,
OG/C-Wisniewski, Pinkston, Rackley, Boling, Barnes, Schlling, Hudson, Fusco
RB-Leshoure, Williams, Vereen, Harper, Hunter, Rogers, Jones
DE-Sheard, Ballard, McPhee, Romeus
FB-Hynoski, Marecic, Havili, Sherman, Chapas
OLB- Ayers, Foster, Reed, Wilson, Carter, Wright, Rolle, Moch, Houston
ILB-Sheppard, Bynes, Casey Mathews
S-Moore, Williams, McDaniel, Culliver, GilchristCarter, Jarrett, Sands
CB- Harris,Dowling, Marsh, Brown, Carmichael, Burton, House, Williams, Patrick, Chekwa, Hogan, Rogers, Skrine, Jones
Of positions that we aren’t in much of a need for:
DT’s there are a few but then it really drops off.
TE’s there are a good 5-7 that could get picked.
we will probably get a WR
unless we trade up for some quality OLB
