SB Nation New York 2011 NFL Mock Draft

SB Nation has developed regional hubs in certain ares to encompass a group blogs that are in that region, with additional coverage for all of the sports represented by the blog there. With a huge region in the New York area, they have their own region, titled SB Nation New York. Recently, they just completed a Mock Draft of the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft.

The have the Baltimore Ravens selecting with the 26th overall pick.....cornerback Brandon Harris. While I responded with the comment that I do not feel that Ravens GM Ozzie Newsome will go with a cornerback in the first round other than perhaps Colorado's Jimmy Smith, the more pressing need was not only in the trenches on both sides of the ball, but at wide receiver more so than at cornerback.

Their justification is that with the uncertainty of Domonique Foxworth's knee and the other three corners being free agents, we may need to rebuild that area of the defense. They also note that Harris' tie-in to the University of Miami would be an instant bond between the rookie and both Ray Lewis and Ed Reed, who are perhaps the most well-known players in the NFL from the "U" and would assist in mentoring Harris as a teammate.

Your thoughts?

Never going to happen. Especially in the first round.

Brandon Harris is not a real answer to our corner problems. He looks like Chris Carr without the instinct. Most anaylst don’t have any idea where to start him because he is too slow for his size……kinda of reminds me of what they said about Ray when he was coming out.

Nope, won’t happen. If no Jimmy Smith, trade back or take the best available pass rusher…

Yeah, we won't draft Harris.

And while the rationalization for drafting him make some sense there are several different directions that the Ravens could take to shore up the defensive backfield, each more likely than drafting Harris in round 1.

I don’t see it happening. Personally I predict he’ll end up in Pittsburgh.
