Should The Ravens Draft Two Wideouts in this year Draft?
The Ravens will have to address the wide receiver position in this year draft but should they draft more than one wideout? The Ravens have young wide outs such as James Hardy, David Reed, Justin Harper, Marcus Smith, and Brandon Jones waiting to show they can contribute to The Ravens offense .The Ravens could possibly already have the young wide out they been wanting who could provide the vertical threat/explosive force on offense but does the current young players already on the roster provide enough faith for the Ravens to decide to just draft one wide out?
The opinions posted here are those of the administrator of this blog and his loyal readers. They are in no way official comments from the team, and should not be misconstued as such, even though he thinks he could do just as well or even a better job!

I won’t mind it if that is what Ozzie wants to do. I would hope that if we do get 2 WR in the draft that we do so by drafting one early then drafting one late. I don’t want to draft two WR late, I would like to get one of the top WR in this draft if we do that and not rely on improving our WR in the future by using only 1 pick on a 6th round WR.
Getting someone like Torrey Smith, Baldwin, Hankerson, Young or Little in the 2nd then maybe Shorts, Lockette, or Brown in the 5th, 6th or 7th round would be fine by me.
I don’t see Donte and Housh returning because you don’t build great WR groups with stop gaps like that. So that leaves 2 open spots that may see alot of action next year with Joe hopefully getting more control of the offense. Drafting two WR would give us great competition for Reed, Hardy and Smith.

Yeah that is understandable but I figured since the Ravens have express
confidents in David Reed that he will become something special for the team it would leave them to think that they dont need to address the wideout position so early. I still think it would be best to grab one of the top wideouts just becuase it would help the offense even more but I have seen some wideouts that are very good that are listed to be taking in the later rounds
Yea, I meant to say in the comment above that I would much rather double dip at other positions in this draft such as OL or DE simply because while WR is a pressing need, we really only need 1 WR right now.

9 picks
if we don’t trade, so one early and one late could help on Special Teams as well.

One thing I’ve been thinking about is… What if Julio Jones starts falling? If he can get past Cleveland at 6, I think he could fall all the way to Washington at 10. Now, everyone is talking about the Redskins’ interest in Ryan Mallet now. If you can believe that rumor, Jones could potentially fall to the Lions at 13. I know it’s unlikely, but remember that every team in the top 15 have huge needs, many of which are much bigger than WR.
The Ravens could work out a trade with Washington if they’re really interested in Mallet, who will most certainly still be available at 26. I would absolutely love to see a WR like Jones in Baltimore. I think he’s like Terrell Owens without the attitude and could help Joe develop in a hurry.
Please don’t bring this up, that is too much of a dream come true. I have been saying for months now that Julio Jones is the player I want most in this draft, and people have criticized me making that statement because it would mean trading up. But I keep telling them not to sleep on Ozzie and his love for Alabama stars, especially ones who are physical freaks like Jones.
Like I have said since January, Julio Jones is my #1 player right now for Baltimore if he can get past 10, but I don’t see it happening.

I heard he won’t get past the Browns if AJ Green goes to Cincy.

I would loooooooooooove to see that too.
I don’t think Ozzie has it in him to trade high enough to get Jones though.
Please, prove me wrong Oz!

I’m starting to like Greg Little more and more. If we go with him at 58, I wouldn’t mind seeing them add a complete burner later in the draft like Aldrick Robinson or Lockette etc.
I’m with you. Little is starting to impress me the more I watch of him and I’m hoping we go with him in the 2nd and maybe Gates or some burner later on. For some reason Cam likes to throw fade routes in the redzone when our WR’s aren’t built for that, but throwing it to a guy like Little or Baldwin would actually at least make some sense.
A bigger target like Little or Baldwin early
and then a small burner late.
