Domonique Foxworth Wants Fans On Players' Side
Baltimore Ravens cornerback Domonique Foxworth wants the fans to gather on the side of the players in their legal battle against the NFL team owners. He feels that if the fans support the player's attempt to get an injunction to block the lockout, that would force the owners to negotiate in better faith to reach a new Collective Bargaining Agreement.
That might be a tough sell to the fans, who have overwhelmingly not chosen a side in this battle, preferring instead to form their own "side" as the people who pay the price to fill the stadiums and watch the games feel as if their feelings and investment in the NFL is getting the shaft in this labor dispute.
At the same time, anything that might keep the players in touch with their teams and pressure both sides to keep negotiating to try to start the 2011 season on schedule would be a great thing to support.

To Dominique I would say...
No shit you want us on your side. If you asked the owners, they would tell you the same thing. I would tend to agree with the stance that the fans have taken. We are the ones who pay to watch you play. You, the players know the risks you are taking when you strap on a helmet, but you get to play a game for a living and be paid millions for it, we do jobs that in many ways are harder than any of these players could ever imagine, and we will never see the money that these players get in one paycheck.
This whole thing, both the players and the owners is stupid. Both sides need to get over each other, come to an agreement, and play the damn game. Act like the men that they talk themselves up to be.

what side have the fans taken?
other then bitching in a manner that will have zero impact on the outcome
one thing is correct, if the injunction is ruled in the players favor we will have football next year. i’m 100% in favor of it.
its really not that simple and of course as fans we want to see football played but we not the ones
playing it; The players that play on that football field may have fun but in reality this is their careers and they just want fairness/better insurance from the league.
I really don’t see how a person with a regular job or above regular job is harder then the football player job. The players have to stay in shape all the time, they have to work out all the time, they have to play through pain that may be feeling from playing past games in the season, they have to constantly prepare them self for the next team they have to face, they have to study their play books which isn’t just 3 pages, they have to go through interviews, play in commercials and etc.
...which is why the pay is so much higher and
their careers are so much shorter. But than again, I’ll trade w/ them any day!

i wouldn't
most people with six figure professional jobs wouldn’t, and the owners definitely wouldn’t.
