No Faith In Joe!!!
During the Super Bowl I decided to go to the Steelers fans blog site called BehindTheSteelCurtain.com and I was expecting to see the Steelers fans upset/ sad because The Green Bay Packers were ahead on the scoring board. The Steelers fans were just the opposite and they seemed very optimistic but what stood out the most to me is that they kept faith in their quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.
Joe Flacco has done great things for the Ravens for the past three years but if he was placed in the same situation that Steelers Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was in, I really don’t think it would be many Ravens fans here on Baltimore Beatdown displaying much optimism. I am not saying that all Ravens fans don't have faith In Joe Flacco but it seems the faith that Ben Roethlisberger gets from his fans is very different from the faith that we Ravens fans have for Joe Flacco.
I truly believe the Baltimore Ravens coaching staff doesn’t have faith In Joe Flacco at times and such things can hold a player back from their true potential. The Offensive Coordinator has to have faith in his quarterback to be able to feel comfortable with what ever play he calls for the Offense to do; If the faith isn’t there then you not going to see beyond average play calling but instead see play calling that seems predictable and receive negative results from your offense.
Joe Flacco has shown many times that he can indeed get it done if given the chance but Joe Flacco can only excel if the chains comes off from the offensive coaching staff. Joe Flacco will be going into his fourth year as The Ravens quarterback and so far he has improve much since his rookie year but this time The Ravens Coaching staff will have to let him free and keep the faith that he can lead this team to success. Joe Flacco seems to be getting the baby treatment and I could be wrong but if I’m right then it’s time for it to stop and allow this player to truly show what he has.
The opinions posted here are those of the administrator of this blog and his loyal readers. They are in no way official comments from the team, and should not be misconstued as such, even though he thinks he could do just as well or even a better job!

The major difference is Joe doesn’t have the ring or a pro bowl. Once he earns one of those I believe he will have more support.

BB has 2 super bowl rings
bringing his team back with a last minute TD in the 2nd one. that breeds optimism in fans. i don’t see how that translates directly to the coaching staff not having faith in flacco. two different situations. and how, exactly, did BB reward said optimism? yeah…
Flacco..
Reminds me on Testaverde..All the talent in the world, big arm, can make all the throws..I think the problem( I am a BIG defender of Flacco) is betwwen his ears..He make mistakes at the wrong time, like Vinny did also. There is NO reason why this guy can’t win it all…On paper, you guys are one of the most talented teams there are..Except us, LOL! All kidding aside, Flacco is only in his third year and I would expect him to be better next year…You guys, like us have an identity crisis on offense..Are you and us running teams, or passing? You guys have a very good front office..Ozzie has been very good for most part..I know lots of guys here are disappointed with Cody and kindel, but lets see if kindle CAN back on the field and what Cody can do..Ownership is solid with Bischotti as owner..BTW, I am married to an Italian man! Don’t go crazy on Flacco just yet!
Have a safe rest of winter!

why does he have to wait to get such support? I mean he has played really
good and has done so for three years now. Aron Rogers if im not wrong hasnt been to the pro bowl and he gets more faith from his fans and coaching staff then Joe Flacco does
oh just saw that Aron Rogers has been to the probowl before so disreguard what I just said
but still I dont think its right that Joe Flacco has to get a ring or be enter into the probowl to gain fans or even coaching staff faith well he was a pro bowl alternative in 2009 :)
I just think that the Coaching staff doesnt have much faith in Joe Flacco like they should
I mean I know Cam Cameron has more better offensive schemes then what we been seeing but I think it just that he doesnt have much faith In Joe Flacco and I feel like thats why he took over as quarterback coach to develop a better relationship with Joe Flacco and to work on his flaws so Joe Flacco can become better also so Cam Cameron himself can feel more comfortable with place out play calling without any limits
well, all i know is that peter pan got kids to fly with faith, tim mcgraw boinks faith and flacco recovers his fumbles like a legless rolly polly.
The difference between Joe and...
Big Ben or any other championship caliber QB is the fact that Joe doesn’t seem to COMMAND the offense. QBs like Manning, Brady, Cheese-berger, Rodgers, Brees and even Rivers OWN their offenses. It’s a presence. It’s something you can see through the TV. It’s a silent, but obvious confidence, even when they don’t succeed. Drew Brees didn’t have a great game against us, but you never knew it by his facial expressions or his poise. Joe seems to be a passenger on a ship rather than the Captain. Now, I don’t know where the blame for that lies (beit the coaches or Joe himself) but until it does change, I don’t believe we’re going to see much different than what we’ve gotten. And maybe that’s what this article is saying, promote Joe from ensign to captain.
P.S. This my first post since we lost. It’s taken me a while to get over it. It’s good to be back.
Joe just needs a taunt. Kind of like Rodgers and ‘the belt’ move. I think Joe should opt for the WWF ‘Suck It’ arm cross over the groin or the Moon Walk with Joebot arm movements.
Genius raven…..genius.

I think you might be surprised, after steelers SB loss, that steeler fans are having concerns with Ben. It goes with the territory. Fans need “settle down”!. Joe is a 3rd year QB. How many qbs have won SB in their 1st 3 years? It’s hard to win a SB. We fans have to be patient. Ravens might not win a SB in the next 10 years, and it might not matter who the Qb is.
How many qbs have won SB in their 1st 3 years?
I think Flacco hit a bit of bad luck being drafted into a division with a quarterback that did win a Super Bowl within his first three years. It set a completely unreasonable bar for success. The abilities of many of his contemporaries don’t help. Flacco is bashed by the fans for not having Roethlisberger’s elusiveness (for lack of a better word), Brady’s efficiency, Manning’s sheer football IQ, and Brees’s accuracy.

Exactly right Amp. Flacco came into a league that was dominated by the 3 best QB’s in the league, Brady, Manning, Ben, and so many people are pissed off he hasn’t been able to surpass 3 QBs that have rings. That is a damn tough to take on, especially when you are thrown right into the fire from the get-go. Once Manning and Brady are done in a few years, Joe will definitely be in the conversation as those guys are today.

Ray Lewis said it best let Joe be Joe dont worrry about him being better then the next
quarterback or how he compares to other quarterbacks
Good Post Ampallang, but, keep in mind that none of these are in their 3rd year. And, only one won a SB in his 1st 3 years. Another way to look at it is favre only won 1 SB in 20 years.

… keep in mind that none of these are in their 3rd year.
That’s kind of my point. Flacco is unfairly compared to people who have been in the league much longer. He’s also blasted for not having the skills I mentioned above in quantities comparable to quarterbacks who basically define said skill.

He’s got the best unibrow in the NFL though

I’m curious. If Boldin catches that TD pass against the steelers, and if the Ravens win.
Would we be talking about our faith in Joe?
Would we be talking about our faith in Joe?
Given a lot of what I’ve read on various blogs and forums, I’d have to say the answer would be an unequivocal “yes.” If Flacco floats one pass, Bruce will be there to point out how no other quarterback ever does that; it’s some kind of law of nature.

I have Faith in Joe Flacco but just sometimes when i see other ravens fans comments on him and
it doesnt seem like they have faith in him.
Ravens fans are spoiled. All we demand is the best player ever at every position. It’s no big deal.

How are Ravens fans spoiled specifically with respect to the quarterback position?

They could have
Chad Henne or Tyler Thigpen as their starting QB. Or whomever the Titans have starting.

Yup. I think people complain so much about Joe because they realize how good he is. We haven’t had any quality talent like Joe at QB in our history and now that the fans have tasted where he can take us, they hate on him when we as a team don’t get it done.
Staring at the world through my rear view.
I guess they say that becuase they compare him to elite quarterback
like peyton manning thinking Joe Flacco should be able to take charge and change the game like him but I think they failed to realize even Peyton Manning cant do it on his own. look at what happen to the colts offense when they lost key players on their offense.
Peyton Manning wasnt playing like himself becuase he didnt have the players he had chemistry with/ the offensive players he had to work with couldnt get it done becuase the chemistry wasnt there and this the same reason why The Ravens offense wasnt able to get it done
I was more commenting on the organization as a whole being excellent.

That says the most right there
I think we would all take just Joe over Joe and Cam. Hell let Joe become the offensive coordinator next year, I bet he would do better than this year
by Mstevens_Design on Feb 11, 2011 12:08 AM EST up reply actions
Simply put
The coaching staff doesn’t have a lot of faith in Joe. At the same time, I think the players do and that means more to me as a fan. I think when Cam finally hits the exit door, we will see renewed faith in Joe and more responsibility overall, which will lead to better numbers.
Does Joe occasionally miss passes?…. yes
Does Joe force balls into situations sometimes?…. yes
Do other QBs do the same things?… Yep! Manning, Brees, Rivers, Big Ben, Brady all have done the same things in games and in whole seasons just like Joe. The biggest difference comes in the playcalling from there on out. Those players get the opportunity to redeem themselves, while Cam seems to take the ball completely out of Joe’s hands.

I think it was just Cameron that lacked faith in Flacco. Joe’s response to his QB coach being fired leads me to believe that Zorn was on Flacco’s side. Harbaugh wasn’t intimately involved with the offense last year, so his opinion (whatever it may be) likely didn’t mean much. That just leaves Cameron.

I have been looking at the player's twitter feeds
after I saw Joes comments after meeting with Harbaugh and Cam today. It really seems like everyone wanted to have Zorn stay and Cam go elsewhere. I think there has been a lot of built up frustration this year towards Cam and I don’t see him making it through another season unless we are putting up serious numbers.
LeRon McClain’s Twitter:
Congrats to my man Jim Zorn for getting the QB position at KC. Well deserved. Wish he could of stayed with J5.. But that’s they choice…
Joe’s comments:
"I guess Cam is going to take more of a role in the quarterback room, he’s always in the quarterback room. He’s going to have his influence. He’s the offensive coordinator. We’re going to do things the way he wants them. And I still wish Jim would have been part of that.
“My opinion isn’t going to change. I think Jim was a great coach, I think he was great for our team. I think he was great for me. That’s how I feel about it.”
I am too lazy to look up Mason’s comments during the season, but I remember him all but coming out and blaming the coaching for our lack of offense. No one seems to be straight up saying that they hate Cam as a coach, but it seems to really be a major thing among a few players that don’t have an issue in speaking up…. I can’t imagine what the rest of the offensive locker room feels about the decision.

I like this quote from Harbaugh.
“I feel the same way about Jim Zorn [as Flacco does],” Harbaugh said. “I think Jim Zorn is heck of a coach, a heck of a person. I think Jim did a heck of a job this year. Just going forward in my mind, it wasn’t the best mix in terms of building the offense. And it really had to do more with styles and offensive systems and things like that, just to streamline the teaching our players.”
Staring at the world through my rear view.
I really hope that he feels differently
Joe seems straight up pissed. One would hope that the head coach outweighs the decisions made by the offensive coordinator.

I think some fans are taking things out of hand about the Cam Cameron/Jim Zorn situation.
I know Cam Cameron has had his times when every body was frustrated with him but l dont think it w
I dont think Joe Flacco or Leron Mcclain are saying they wish Cam Cameron was gone instead of Zorn. Overall I think they just expressing how they believe he was a good quarterback coach and they didnt want him to leave but that just happens sometimes. Jim Zorn was said to be a good quarterback coach but I dont think he was let go becuase of Cam Cameron influences but just the fact the offense is moving on a different direction and Jim Zorn just doesnt fit that direction.
Jazz,
There is some serious bitterness in their comments. Specifically the following….
But that’s they choice…
I guess Cam is going to take more of a role in the quarterback room, he’s always in the quarterback room.
Those comments aren’t from people that feel Zorn just didn’t fit, but more of a feeling that he was pushed out. Ultimately, we won’t know what is going on in that instance because we aren’t in the meetings. Just looking at the situation and the statements being made by everyone….. the players are pretty frustrated that Zorn is gone.

cams a dog and we’ve got all we’re gonna get from him. cams good enough to get it done 2/3 the time BUT there is another level that requires a lot more game feel. he lacks that. i think he’s instilled some things in joe like he did in other qb’s but he’s not the man to complete the process. it’s up to joe now and joe needs to kick the cam training wheels off and make the jump.
