Should The Ravens Think About Calling Up Mark Clayton?

Mark Clayton is due to be a free agent this year and I know we traded him to  The St.Louis Rams last year but wouldn't it be a good idea to sign him back to our team? Mark Clayton has good speed, good hands,  he knows the Ravens offense, and he is still young. The Ravens should still draft a wide-out in this year draft but believe it or not its not guaranteed that the rookie wide-out will be a instant impact like a  Dez Bryant,Mike Williams, and etc.

Joe Flacco does need new weapons to grow with but chemistry doesn't happen over  night and why not bring somebody that he is truly familiar with and can still grow with at the same time. Chemistry is very important to have when you have a team working  towards one goal and Mark Clayton for sure has chemistry with players on this  offense and he knows playbook of the Ravens offense.

I don't think it would be a bad idea

I think he could still make an impact. He brings a speed factor which we were missing all year

No thanks.

I wouldn’t mind bringing him back for really cheap, but I would really like to give Reed a shot at stepping up. hopefully we do draft a WR in the 1st or 2nd and also get him a chance to develop. Wouldn’t complain about resigning him, but feel we need to give the young guys a chance to develop. If we do I would like to at least wait til after the draft to see what we look like first.

I’d like to see Mark stay with the Rams and develop with Bradford. I was really excited to see what he would do in a new system with a very good QB like Bradford. It sucked seeing him miss the entire year cause of his knee. But we aren’t going to bring him back, been here done that.

I think if he stays with Bradford he will become a better WR. But we seemed to be missing that speedy prescence this year, so I can understand why would give some thought into it.

Its not a bad thought,

But theres no way he comes back. He was somewhat of a dissapointment in Baltimore, and he finally started hitting his stride with fellow sooner Sam Bradford when he went to STL, so my guess is he will go back there on a cheap 1 year deal, mainly because he will be 29 and coming off a major knee injury.

If you want speed in the slot, and if we lose Stallworth, I wouldnt mind seeing us draft Torrey Smith or Leonard Hankerson, or Titus Young in the 1st or 2nd round, or Jerrel Jernigan from Troy or Randall Cobb from Kentucky in the 3rd round. If not any of them, there are a lot of intriguing FA WR’s on the market we could look into

Why early? Get the better all around WR early on, and get the zippy guy later. Speed is a common find in WRs, Being good at everything is not.

After watching Hankerson he has become the guy I want us to go after. Even though he could still work on his hands, I like how I read that he struggled with them and worked really hard to improve them and it’s shown. It’s good to see talented guys who like to work and improve their weaknesses. He would be a great raven. agree with you BW that we should target one of these bigger all around WR first and later get a fast guy.

by AV23 on Feb 6, 2011 1:10 AM EST up reply actions

I am in favor of drafting Hankerson or Smith in the 1st round, because if WR is the position we choose to take early on, these guys wont be aviliable at our pick in the 2nd round, unless you trade up. We have to keep in mind we need improvements on the O-line as well, but id rather see a WR than a OL in the 1st round, just for the potential and immeadiate impact factor of many WR prospects in this years draft

by Terpsfan#21 on Feb 6, 2011 1:55 AM EST up reply actions

If we re-sign Gaither and he is healthy we should be fine at line. You can always use more depth, but could find that later. Gaither being healthy could provide a major boost to our line by putting Oher back to the right side or keeping him at left if he shows improvement and yanda in his natural guard position.

by AV23 on Feb 6, 2011 2:02 AM EST up reply actions

True

We need Gaither at the LT position. We proved that last year

May not be a bad idea, but wouldnt work with cam cameron

Plus Id rather see us develop a couple young receivers through the draft – praying that we draft titus young and then maybe a big guy 6-6 like Deandre brown in the 3rd or 4th – if we are able to add a speedster plus a huge target, I think that will really complement our WR core nicely with bolding and david reed. So I hope our WR core looks like this.
1.Bolding
2.Housh Or Mase If they come back – we only need 1 of them back
3. Titus Young.
4.David Reed or somebody like Deandre Brown a big physical guy

Just Win Baby !

Clayton had a game with 12 catches in St. Louis not too long after getting out of this town. Even in St. Louis they know how to stick with what’s working….with a rookie QB. I could never figure Clayton out. Us or him? If experience weighed this argument I’d have to side with Clayton.

NO WAY

The move was one not made by Oz last year.Moving ahead of the cowboys and snatching up Dez Bryant.Add him along with Joe & Rice,Q and either Mason Or Housh, with Heap, would have been pretty formidable.Besides we have so much talent offensively,we need Gaither back at left tackle and a fullback that punishes oh and an offensive coordinator…If i was head coach, damn if I wouldn’t put my job on the line with the likes of Cameron..

Ozzie may learn from it, instead of waiting for someone to fall in his lap he may be more attentive this year. Dez was a major loss in the draft.

Ravens worked out DB Reynaldo Hill formerly of the Titans.

by Raven_all_day on Feb 7, 2011 7:16 PM EST via mobile reply actions

Dont look into it

He was good his 1st two years, then just a big dissapointment since. Hasnt even played a game since 08. Pass. Dont even know why we would look at him, and if he was smart, he would just go to the UFL while hes still in his prime ( 28)
