Polomalu is NFL AP DPOY?

I like Julius Peppers for the award. Peppers got paid (20 milion, the 1st year of his deal) and rewarded the Chicago Bears with the singular most dominant performance for 16 games of the season on defense (a close 2nd would be Ndamukong Suh). The Bears, under Love Smith are a traditional Tampa2 defense. Under normal circumstances, the 3 technique and the Mike baker are the keys to this defense. Tommie Harris, at the begiining of the season was but a shell of his former self. In comes Peppers and he transforms the defense…….. and in doing so, raises the level of play of everyone around him. That is the true meaning of an impact player.

The Peppers stat line simply does not do this player justice——-54 tackles, 8 sacks, 3 FF and 2 int. Peppers rushed from both end spots, dropped in coverage and smothered ball carriers in the run game. Peppers forced the OL week in and week out to turn and fan the protections to his side of the field with doulbe teams——freeing up others to make plays like Isreal Idonije (49 tackles, 8 sacks). The sleepless nights of the OC’s facing the Bears this season are incalculable. Remember, the Green Bay Packers were the heavy favorites to win the NFC North. Julius Peppers is as much responsible for the Packers entering the playoffs as a wildcard team as much as Jay Cutler or Mike Martz are. When I watched the Bears, and it was more than a few games, Julius Peppers was unblockable.

Nothing against Troy Polomalu….he is a great player but he is playing with James Harrison, the 2nd most feared pass-rusher in Pro Football in this man’s opinion. Not to mentioned Lamarr Woodley. In this vote by the AP, Polomalu’s play and humility has served him well. My feeling is, Julius Peppers got the shaft.

Can't argue with the pick

He is so disruptive and the Steelers record win vs. without him is amazing.
