Ravens vs. Steelers: Five Key Match-Ups
1.) Ike Taylor vs. Anquan Boldin.
Taylor has become a top five corner this year and is straight shutting people down. Boldin had his best game of the season last week. Anquan proved that he can make plays even when covered against the Cardinals. He will need that skill this week because he will be covered.
2.) Bryant McKinnie and Michael Oher vs. whoever the Steelers have rushing the passer.
The Steelers have done a good job of hiding who will be there starting rushers this Sunday but whoever they are they will have to deal with these two. McKinnie had his best game as a Raven against the Steelers in week one and Oher had his best game of the year last week. If Ben Grubbs is able to play maybe it will help these two solidify our porous pass protection from the past few weeks.
3.) Terrell Suggs vs. the Steelers offensive line.
Suggs is having yet another Pro Bowl season. He has been eating linemen for breakfast on a weekly basis. If there is one guy you know is going to tear it up in Pittsburgh it's T-Sizzle!
4.) Billy Cundiff and Sam Koch vs. Steelers special teamers
The Ravens have been struggling on special teams this year and the task of keeping good field position will fall on these two. Cundiff needs to keep kicking it out of the end zone and Koch needs to work on angling his punts to the sidelines... Or else they will both need to work on their tackling skills!
5.) Chuck Pagano vs. Dick LeBeau.
LeBeau is one of the best of all time and Pagano is a young, up-and-comer in the NFL. Whichever of these two can find the most creative ways of creating pressure and limiting the big plays will go a long way in deciding the outcome of this game.

I’ll be watching the pitt secondary. If Flacco can exploit the matchups with Dickson & Pitta against bmac, gay, lewis and allen the stands will be empty by Q3
Also, Ray Rice versus farrior is always a treat… he will enjoy the same success against foote and worilds.
Grubbs will play… then he can take another month off… but he is playing tomorrow.
Finally, I want the guys on the outside to finish their blocks downfield. You don’t know when Rice will break a long one
Let’s do this… GO BALTIMORE
yea,
was gonna say something along those lines about Rice but figured it was the most obvious…

Great writeup… Can’t leave rice out… If he gets the touches he’s supposed to get, he makes the hOly of fake and the Ravens win championships

you do know that McFadden almost never sees the field right?
This message will self destruct
he wont so the TE’s need to have a huge game. look for dickson to be the offensive version of suggs the steeler killer.
I feel like we say this every week about our TEs
But it’s never quite what I think it’s going to be. They did start to do it right against the Cards in the 2nd half though…

busch light on ice..recovery gatorade being chilled. its going to be a late great night or a flacco debacco. joe will be the same slow and steady eddie so its up to cam to quickly diagnose line issues, routes and timely deep balls. the good thing about cam is that he’s unpredictable on 1st down. thats bad against poor teams when you should just pound away but good against pitt who will stuff obvious run downs. it would be a thing of misguided beauty to have another raven romp. we have the nuts to do it.

Nice points lastcallbmore
- Your guy Suggs is a beast. So far he owned our O Line pretty much every game he played us. If he’s not gonna get a sack I’ll be a happy man :)
- I hope our Defense will overcome injuries and play well.
What’s the deal with your Offensive line? IS it still iffy, or has it improved since week one?

Playing much better, finally starting the same unit in consecutive games. Starks coming back has helped tremendously, the rookie Gilbert is holding his own, Foster gives us more meat/muscle over Legursky at G. Now that he has at least stable Gs next to him Pouncey has been able to shine, he shut down Wilfork last week.
This is a different line than the one you played in week 1, in personnel & effectiveness.

The Ravens have a way of bringing out the worst in O-linemen.
I think whatever has been built upon over the past few weeks will be put to the test this week.

No doubt
I think whatever has been built upon over the past few weeks will be put to the test this week.
Expect Suggs to get his three sacks this game. What I will call having “sack success”, regarding Ben and your D this week, will be Suggs with 3, and only two more for the rest of you D. Really, Ben doesn’t mind taking a sack, and you guys have success blitzing, so it is hard to realistically predict you getting less than 5.
Ben has been fairly consistent in taking a lot of sacks, except in his rookie year. when he hadn’t been coached to do better. Sacks aren’t really the key with Ben, turnovers are. He has improved by throwing less interceptions, but in my opinion, he has regressed in terms of securing the ball. Strip fumbles seem to be his problem this year. That is a tendency I would focus on, were I a defensive coordinator.

You know sizzle is gonna go for that football. And when he gets it, the offense will blow down the field to the 5 and settle for a field goal.

I'm not so sure
First of all, your week one embarrassment of us, has not been totally discounted by this fan, like it seems to have been by many others.
Second, we were effective taking away the Patriots three main weapons last week, their two TEs and Welker. I have only watched one Ravens game this year, so tell me if I am wrong. If we can shut down Rice with Timmons and Gay both converging on him, I think the rest of our D can handle the rest of your O.
Unless Ben gives you 14 turnover points that is.
"They timed it perfectly, they just went too soon." - Darrell Waltrip commenting on an illegal restart.
That’s about right. Avoid the Farrior – Rice matchup, that’s trouble for you.
The only other issue is Torrey Smith, who is too fresh and raw to predict but has the potential to blow the top off any D. Dickson also presents the potential for a matchup nightmare, but again, he hasn’t yet established himself as a go-to guy.
If we spread out on 3rd down we really should be able to convert a good percentage of the time, but what do I know. The most important thing we can do is play good D, because of Offense has been hot and cold as of late.

I read somewhere that Farrior wouldn’t play due to injury, and Foote would likely take his place.
The Rice matchup may be more than one person can handle. Although it will be interesting to see if Troy is isolated on him one-on-one for a few plays. Just so your O won’t really know what Troy is doing. But for most of the game, I’d be more comfortable with the Rice responsibility being shared by Timmons and someone else.
I don’t think your 3rd down spread, is as lethal as the Brady spread we saw last week. But then, I suspect your running game will be stronger than theirs was, if you switch to the hurry up, when we have 6 DBs on the field.
The most important thing we can do, is not give you turnovers.

Well I benched Wallace, Brown, and the Pittsburgh defense in my fantasy leagues. Now I just need to sacrifice several small animals to Jeff the God of Biscuits, and victory should be certain.

well I thought i was being smart and Matt Cassel still did good but not as i expected.
I just didnt want to start Flacco because he may not even have 200 passing yards like Cassel did also Flacco facing the ranked number one passing defense.
KC must have played awfully
Im@ work and couldn’t watch but I saw they lost to MIA… pretty sad. Then again, we lost to JAX
