What is Flacco Worth?

So maybe this is a bad time to discuss it, but Buffalo just announced that they have signed Ryan Fitzpatrick to a six-year contract which will earn the quarterback $59 million, with $24 million guaranteed and $33 million over the first three seasons of the deal. Fitzpatrick's average of $9.8 million a year makes him the 16th highest-paid quarterback in the NFL.

Star-divide

According to BuffaloNews.com
Kansas City's Matt Cassel ranks 17th in quarterback pay at $9.67 million a year. New Orleans' Drew Brees is 15th at $10 million, but he's expected to sign an extension at some point this year that will likely place him in the top five. Arizona's Kevin Kolb is No. 10, playing under a free-agent contract worth an average of $12.4 million. After Kolb, it's Detroit's Matthew Stafford, playing under a rookie deal worth $12 million a year followed by Dallas' Tony Romo, playing under an older deal (signed in 2008) worth $11.25 million a year.

6 years and $59M or $9.8M/yr. sounds about right

Top 10 money - so at least Kolb's $12.4M/yr.

Michael Vick money - 5 years and $80M or $16M/yr.

Not top 10 money so less than $10M/yr.

Don't re-sign Flacco at any amount

He is a starting QB in the league

and therefore, will get big money, the same that any half-decent QB will get, which is what he is worth right now. If he wants top 5 money, he will be very disappointed Nobody would give him that not even Oakland or Washington….I think.

He deserves to get paid. Pay the guy. Rice too.

After Palmer, don’t bet against what Oakland will pay for anybody.

Should have been another choice that would have been between the 9.8 and Kolb’s 12. Say – 10-11.

If Flacco was a stock would YOU put a chunk of your portfolio on him? No way. His money goes to Rice and the other reliable assets. I’d pay him top 20 money. He’s equal to the ex-redskin and raider starter -can’t remember his name. that good.

Flacco has agreat arm no doubt. Flacco has the size and decent mobility for his size. Pay him for that. But, don’t pay him for leadership and decision making. Don’t pay him too much for accuracy either. Seems fair. That puts him in the bottom middle. He’s been 1/2 way there for quite a while.

Glad to see Flacco finally fighting back with the coaches

Even if it is a little passive aggressive.

Now if he could just manage to “accidentally” jam a pen (or better yet, a stake) through Cam’s heart…

Kolb type money

I just don’t see Flacco or his agent settling for less than Kolb money. But certainly not Vick or BB money (8 yr/$102M) either. So I am betting it takes somewhere around 6 years and $72M minimum to sign him. That said, I would not load his contract with signing bonus and other guaranteed/potentially dead money like Ngata got either.

He is going to have to settle for less money than Kolb if he continues with these 185 yard, 51% comp, 1td, 1 int, 1 fumble games.

Flacco has to trust his receivers to make catches, but shouldn’t throw towards coverage. He needs to attack deep more often, but shouldn’t hold onto the ball so long. He needs to show more awareness in the pocket and move to extend plays, but nothing good comes of him leaving the pocket. He should run with the ball if nobody’s open, but he definitely can’t run with the ball.

Flacco should have the awareness of Roethlisberger, the elusiveness of Vick, the control of the offense of Manning, the leadership of Brady, the accuracy of Brees, and the arm strength of … Flacco? - Ampallang

Give him top 5 money, he is your franchise QB.

Only the top 5 Franchise QBs get top 5 money.

Flacco is close but on the outside looking in and his consistency is killing him at the minute. I’d give up top 10 money because that is where he deserves to be. One level below the top guys like Ben/Brees/Vick and 2 below the possible all time players like Brady, Manning, and Rodgers.

You put Vick in the same category as Ben/Brees, wow.

Harsh! Most people think Flacco not as good as Kolb or Fitzpatrick? Show the man some love. He is our QB.

Pay him top 10 money. He is in that catagory.

whatevever the #10 QB in the league is making is about right. Is the team signing the QB from week one or the QB from the Jax game ??

I tend to agree

Flacco ranks near #10 right now. Some games you think he is better than that, some games you wonder if he’s even in the top half. And some games you think both.

Even saying that, I do think Flacco is the best QB in franchise history and should be our QB for years to come. And I do believe we will win more than one SB with him as our QB.

Flacco is definitly best Ravens QB , though if Vinny had a good defense would be interesting to see what he could have done.

I Don't Think

We will ever see Flacco throw a pick-6 from his knees at the end of a game.
