Baltimore? Prevent Defense?

From a loyal hometown fan who was born, and grew up on in Baltimore, went to several Colts and Orioles games as a kid, attended the University of Maryland in College Park,  and lived on Kimble road right behind the old Memorial stadium in the 70's, I never thought that a hard nosed, blue collar town like Baltimore would ever adopt a "Prevent Defense" attitude like I have seen this last few years. Opposing quarterbacks lick their chops when they see the Raven's drop out of the intimidating, blitz threatening,  zone defense of the past, into a feminine like man to man prevent defense. As John Madden, and several other defensive masterminds have said for decades: "all the prevent defense does is prevent you from winning the game". "Sizzle" said after the game, the rushing of only 3 players on the 3rd and 19 yesterday was a prevent defense designed to give up 18 yards, and get the other team off the field. Well, we all know how that ended. My question is, Why give up a "get at the quarterback at all times" mentality, just because your offense is improving? This conservative "Wuss" attitude is the reason the Steelers knew just how to come after us in the third quarter. They watched the Raven's VS Falcons game in week 10. I love my team, but I don't like the road the coaching staff is heading. The Raven's had the best team and talent on the field yesterday by far, yet, we lost the game.
