I’m going to be very careful with this, we’re talking about the Jets like we’re talking about the Saints. That’s the Super Bowl champs. Until they play tonight, that’s the only people that can be dethroned. Drew Brees and the Saints, not Mark Sanchez and the Jets. All of this ‘We’re the Miami Heat of football.’ If you’re the Miami Heat, we got to be the Lakers and multiple rings.

The game ain’t played through tongues. The game is played when you buckle up your chin strap. So, all this pressure [Ryan] wants to put on his team, I hope they can cash the check that he writes.

We’re not talking about whether I didn’t want to call one defense or not. Coach Mark Sanchez. Coach your Jets. My name should not come out Rex’s mouth unless you’re telling somebody to come block me, which is going to be a very hard damn task come Monday night.

I’m a Baltimore guy through and through but we don’t have an NBA team, and my dad is a Knicks fan, so that makes me a Knicks fan. You can’t impeach Dolan. You have to… um… how do I say this? Terminate his command? Is it okay to say that on this board?

we’re looking decent this season jackmca. there showing old Knicks vs. Suns games on the MSG channel here in NY, and i get all warm and bubbly everytime i see Amare bang hard on someone’s dome, like damn we get to see that all year! Also some of the other moves they made this summer, like the trade to get Anthony Randolph, i like. i hope Felton can get back to his UNC form, and maybe Gallo takes that next step, and shoots the lights out of the gym. could it be the Knicks may finally be playoff bound again?

Dolan still must go however…..

I never tire of that

In 2054 when I’m an old man if the NFL is still around and the sucessors to the Jets and the Ravens play each other I will always talk **** about how Haloti Ngata got a freaking touchdown against the Joe Flacco wannabe Mark Sanchez.

This is exactly why I love Ray Lewis

The Ravens have just kept quiet for the most part, while Rex & company keep running their mouths like they’re the reigning champs. Finally Ray got sick of hearing their shit, and decided to say what we’ve all been thinking. I can’t wait for Monday Night. I just now its going to be a blowout, with Sanchez looking like a deer caught in the headlights.

I’ve been predicting a score of 23-9 for several weeks now.

by BAL_Hawk on Sep 10, 2010 8:32 AM EDT up reply actions

I think the score will be close but the game won’t be.

We won’t get many points against your defense, but I don’t think there will be more than one drive—if that—in which your offense sincerely threatens us. Our offense is by far the more capable of the two, and although I’m not expecting us to look like the 2009 Saints, I do think we can put up two touchdowns and a few more field goals. I’d predict 20-9 off the top of my head. BALHawks prediction sounds reasonable too.

your offense is superior

only due to Flacco being a professional QB, whereas Sanchez is a sophomore project still. i still see at least one offensive TD by the Jets, with maybe one by the D, or one or two FGs due to good field position from the D.

IMPEACH DOLAN!!!!

by wilddre22 on Sep 10, 2010 6:26 PM EDT up reply actions

you have to consider field position

I’m guessing that your offense is going to look abysmal against us, and we’re going to be starting a lot of drives around the 50 for that reason. So I don’t think we’re going to rack up a bunch of yards and fantasy points, but due to turnovers and punts, I think our field position will be favorable enough to put up 20+ points.

By that same token, field position is the only way I see the Jets putting up any points at all. While we will probably end up punting from inside our own 30 several times, the few opportunities you get with good field position you must capitalize on—and I’m not sure if Sanchez can do that. I’m guessing that’s how you get your 3 field goals, but nothing more.

there will be sustained drives

due to the effectiveness of the run, and i think youre underestimating the danger of LdT out in the flat, or on a screen pass. he will be Sanchez’s best friend when Ngata is bearing down on him. so i think that will get them to keep some drives sustained, and your D honest.

But basically the same can be said about the Jets D keeping the Ravens from moving the ball consistently. And turnovers will be caused on both sides, shifting field position even more.

it’s going to be war. i know you guys will be up for it.

IMPEACH DOLAN!!!!

by wilddre22 on Sep 10, 2010 6:24 PM EDT up reply actions

I’m not one to underestimate LdT, but I we do fine against screens and passes to the flat. I’m obviously a Ravens fan, but I think you’re underestimating our front 7. Suggs won’t look like he did last year, and Redding has looked very good at the LE spot. I don’t think you’re going to be effective running the ball.

I just think that the difference here is that Flacco can avoid back-breaking mistakes, while Sanchez can’t.

i never underestimate the Ravens

so long as they have the heart of a lion in the form of Ray Lewis back there.

But one thing i think you’re overlooking: how will the loss of Ed Reed work against your D? not to say that Sanchez is Peyton and can exploit such a hole, but if he does see a weakness back there, and is able to gash your D for at least one long score, i think that’ll go a long way in giving him confidence, as well as softening up your D to the run, as you may back off a little to avoid that happening again.

Zbikowski played well in relief of Reed last year, and nothing he did this pre-season has shaken the faith in him that the coaching staff has. He isn’t the ridiculous threat roaming the secondary that Reed is, but Harbaugh and Mattison aren’t asking that of Zibi. Some people have mentioned that his presence in the secondary could be a boon for our cornerbacks because he takes many less risks than Reed and will typically be where the corners expect him to be.

Haruki Nakamura also had a ridiculous pre-season. When knowledgeable Ravens fans say something about the holes in our secondary, they aren’t talking about our safeties. All that said, we’re all waiting with ‘bated breath for Reed’s return against the Bills or after our bye.

Watching Hard Knocks, I realized something about our upcoming game. The Jets seem very weak at LG right now with a rookie and someone else looking bad throughout preseason. In the game on MNF, Ngata lines up against the LT and LG, so I could see Ngata absolutely destroying their LG and getting to the QB while Suggs has a 1 on 1 all night long.

Its not even going to be close

The more that I see the Ravens play and the addition of TJ, plus the way that the Jets were getting whooped up on is making me think that this game is going to be a blow out.

We will stuff the run pretty easily and force Sanchez to throw on us with a ton of pressure. I see multiple sacks in the first half all leading to multiple INTs in the second half. I wouldn’t be surprised if the score is 35-13, and Rice has 120 rushing yards, and Flacco with 300 passing yards.

by Mstevens_Design on Sep 9, 2010 2:08 PM EDT reply actions

Thats seems like an illogical prediction

what makes you think that Joe Flacco will do what only 2 quaterbacks were able to do in 19 games vs us.

And that was brady and manning.

And Ray rice going for 120 rushing yards.

1 running back ran for over 120 yards in 19 games.

That was MJD and we have Jenkins back this year.

No one scored 35 points or more on us last year

Ravens fans seem more confident then Jets fan even though your secondary has holes everywhere you look.

Our

d-line is supposed to be pretty good themselves. If we can get pressure with 4 (Suggs, Ngata, Redding/Pryce and Gregg, and after this week, Cody), then the defense should be pretty damn good this year, regardless of whom we throw out in the secondary.

I don't buy it

That was the plan last year and it didn’t work out that well.

With all those injuries in our secondary (Especially so now that our best defensive back is out for weeks) at least early on our guys are going to have to work their butts off covering for them.

by Roa on Sep 9, 2010 8:05 PM EDT up reply actions

Last year

there was no Redding, who has been a beast pass rusher (for a DT) in the past. Suggs was also 20 lbs heavier and missed all of training camp with an injury. Ngata claimed to be working on rushing the QB this offseason, one of the few holes in his game.

It’s also possible that Mattison was adjusting to his new position last year, and the players were adjusting to him. With Rex, the front 4 were never expected to get pressure on their own.

Bannan and Edwards weren’t really pass rushers, they were walls against the run. Redding will take at least some of their snaps. I don’t expect Pryce to do much in his old age, but the others should do far better than last year. Which would indicate a better pass rush. And in any case, it’s Mark freaking Sanchez. I don’t expect him to outperform Brees or even Favre in Week 1.

RANT: Rex is a Jerk & the Terminator Kick-off Hit

You know I lost a lot of respect for Rex over that. People are making a big deal out of his language, and the bad example that provides to the kids, to which I say “who the f*ck cares”. But no one complains that he intentionally sets up a game situation intended for the sole purpose of trying to hurt another player? That’s OK? And then he laughs at having created the situation as if he did it for his own amusement, and re-plays it for anyone who will watch to join in his little fun. That is setting a good example of how to be a winner?

I realize football is a tough contact sport and collisions, but intentionally trying to hurt another player is not only the height of poor sportsmanship, it is also a sign of a deeply flawed personality. Especially when you derive such satisfaction for having done it. Just like the gang leader derives satisfaction from having his new boy kill someone as part of his initiation.

I am also surprised the NFL has ignored this. They just last year instituted a new rule on kick-offs on wedge formations for the express purpose of reducing injuries on kick-offs. But according to Rex, that’s what you are supposed to do and feel good about it. That’s how much he values other football professionals.

Another interesting tidbit which also made me dislike him. After Bart Scott pulls one of his stupid, immature stunts on the field, all of the Jets Defensive coaches are calling him an idiot. The D coordinator says something to that effect to Rex, who replies “I told Bart to do that”. And we wonder why the Ravens D was such an undisciplined mess we’re still trying to clean up.

To me, Rex is just an obnoxious fat mother f*cker.

End of Rant. You may now rejoin your discussion.

i see your point

but don’t act like the Ravens never did anything like that. I mean, Billick once said that money changing hands over injuries was commonplace. We’re obviously just as guilty of that as the Jets could ever be. I mean, Rex used to be our D-Coordinator, didn’t he?

I think there is a difference between players putting a bounty on another player (which I also don’t agree with) and the head coach doing it. Isn’t the head coach supposed to set the example? And my point was, here is the head coach on a nationally televised program not only saying it is OK to intentionally hurt another player, but reveling in it. Way to set an example for our youth.

And yes, he was our D-coordinator which leads to my second point. His “leadership” is still being felt in the undisciplined/stupid plays which Harbs is still trying to fix.

Big hits change games.

You kind of have to enjoy inflicting pain on others to play this level of football. If he wants “The Terminator” to set the tone for his team, I have no problem with that. It wasn’t like he wanted the other player’s knee to be sliced in half.

David Carr and the Texans went 4-12 that year. Sanchez went 8-7 (he didn’t play against Tampa) and the Jets went to the AFC championship game. Not to mention Sanchez had very respectable games during the playoff run. You can compare a QB rating all you want, but wins are what count.

Wins are what counts. Your offense isn’t good enough to pull a win against our balanced team though. The only way you guys win this game is to get two or three TDs from special teams or defense. Sanchez isn’t beating us through the air. Your run game is no match for our DL.

Jets fans love to talk about the wholes in our secondary but who do they have to take advantage of it? Mark “Deer Caught in Headlights” Sanchez throwing to Braylon “I Need Stick-Um” Edwards? That’s a joke. Braylon acts like he’s on Revis Island when he’s wide open. And why is everyone sleeping on Zibby? Like he wasn’t a probowl alternate last year.

Mmm,

Braylon’s had some good games against us in the past, even when we had legitimate starting CBs. Whether Sanchez has time and the ability to get him the ball if he’s open, and whether or not he catches it are still questionable.

As for the Pro Bowl statement, first of all, where did you read that Zbi was an alternate? I don’t remember that (but I don’t pay much attention to the Pro Bowl), and even if he were, he was like the 3rd option, selected because Bethea was playing in the Super Bowl. He didn’t play nearly enough to be selected for the Pro Bowl. Furthermore, David Garrard was a Pro Bowler…

I also don’t think most people are “sleeping on Zibby,” but given the choice between him and Ed Reed, well that one’s obvious. And most people are pointing out the tremendous drop off between the two players.

Theres not a single QB out there that should be taken lightly

But we all know Sanchez has no where near the talent/experience to score consistently against our defense. He’ll more than likely be running for his life the whole game, or throwing up ducks. As its already been pointed out, New York is going to need some big help from their defense and special teams to even try to stay close with the Ravens. And they better watch out now that they’ve pissed big Ray Ray off. I seem to recall a rookie named Mendenhall that was running his mouth about how he’d run circles around our defense, and look where that got him. Ray the “I’ll knock your ass the f** out” Lewis put him down for the season. So no wonder Sanchez is remaining quiet looking like a scared little kitten, he doesn’t want to end up on the receiving end up Rays wrath. Man I can’t wait til Monday!

What everyone else in the football world wanted to say. And even as a Bronco fan, I thank him greatly for finally putting the ANNOYING J-E-T-S in the their place.

Josh McDaniels-All he wants to do is win a MF'in game!

You’re about three days too early with this comment.

Even if he does,

I don’t imagine he plays very many snaps. It would likely be as a nickel back. I think that the only upside to playing him would be to get him a few live snaps this week, so he can play a few more next week. Are the few snaps he plays (I’d say no more than 10) worth a spot on the active 45? I think Wilson/Carr will play just as well if not better as the nickel back, leaving Webb inactive for a week and letting another player take a spot on the 45.

Are they worth the chance of him re-injuring his knee? I’d be more than happy to let him rest and heal up until we face a serious passing game, like New England in week six.

There’s a difference between 100% and 70%. 70% means your knee has healed, but it’s not at full-strength. That makes it much easier to re-injure it. It’s not just as simple as “if he’s fine to play then he can play.”

if the doctors say that he fine to play then that means he can play

Tell that to Antonio Bryant.
