Ed Reed will start season on PUP list
Pretty sure we all expected this to be the case.
"It's a four to six month process to getting yourself back to 100 percent, to get yourself in shape to start working out for a season," Reed said on Sirius Radio. "It's a year-long process of getting back to 100 percent. I don't want to come back too early, man, and injure myself again."

This is what we expected. Having Reed within the first six weeks would have been a huge bonus.
I have full confidence in Zbikowski. He’s not Reed, but he’s very good.
+1
Zbi’s has looked very good. I don’t Reed wanted to go on the pup. The coachijng staff and FO I guess decided 10 games at full strength is better than 15-16 at less than 100%.
We'll be fine.
This team is bigger than one man. We have a hole at FS now, but Zbi can step up and the rest of the team can perform too. They have been planning for this all along.
Also, did not Rex Ryan say that Reed would defiantly play, guess he did not do his homework.

zbi is good
in fact, over the next few years, he might end up being better. he’s entering his prime. reed will be a declining vet that misses 4 games a year with injury. i expect we trade him away next season
The other upside
Is that with Zbi, well have a safety who’s most likely where he’s supposed to be on the field during the play, as opposed to Reed’s “freelancing”. Might actually make the defensive plays look like they’re supposed to on paper.

if zbi performs well this year...
i can guarantee it. I’d put money on it. some team will give us too high a draft pick to turn around and pay him too much money. maybe he will make a pro-bowl or two coasting on his name. i’m not saying there isn’t good football left in the guy, but his best days are likely behind him.
Lol, Reed will be a Raven for life. The guy will retire before he goes to another team. I highly doubt Ozzie wants any other team using Reed. As good as Zbi may be, Reed is the much better fit at FS.
Trading Ed is pure blasphemy
He’s the main reason I even became a Ravens fan. Chances are he’ll retire before he gets traded even if he ends up playing second to Zbi in 3-4 years from now.
Trading Ed Reed is about as probable as trading Ray Lewis at this point. The guy is obviously a career Raven and is a virtual lock for the HOF. He’ll play for as long as he wants to.

yeah
On the Johnny S Spectrum of absurd and baseless statements this ranks as an 11 out of 10.

I'm a little upset.
But Ed really needs to get back to 100% and not take any chances. Zbi will fill in just fine.
I wouldn’t be surprised if we have a bit of a safety controversy with Ruki looking better in coverage.

Does this save a roster spot
for the likes of Miller to sneak onto the team?
Actually, I'm surprised
I thought Reed wuld balk at wanting this and find a way to get on the field at some point before then. I guess it also gets us another roster spot by doing this.
aka 'Rexx'
The good thing is that this shows he is dedicated to playing now as well as in the future. Rushing back would have been bad. I want to see wat zbi does. Travis fisher and prince miller are cut.

I also thought we’d see Reed on the field sooner than Week 7, but atleast he’s not trying to rush it until he’s 100%. I know there’s not a huge drop off from Reed to Zbi, but whenever Reed picked a pass off there was always a good chance he would take it back for 6. But I have faith that Zbi will hold his own until Ed can come back.
