The Ravens Have Weapons on Offense But Can They Use Them?
The Ravens last year in my point of view had a good offense but it seems the good players they had were not being used more often(not including good players such as Derrick Mason,Ray Rice, and Todd heap). The Ravens seem to become more predictable as games went on last year and some/most believe it was becuase it was due to the fact the Ravens didn't have a speedy wideout to spread the field; I don't believe the reason The Ravens offense down fall was becuase of lack of offense weapons but in fact lack of creativity.
The Ravens had Mark Clayton, Derrick Mason, Kelley Washington,David Tyree,Justin Harper, Demetrius William, Todd Heap, Edgar Jones, and L.J Smith as their receiver weapons last year; I believe the talent was there but the creativity wasn't put in place more often and opponent defense were able to know where the ball was going becuase of that.
The Raven now have Anquan Boldin, Derrick Mason, Donte Stallworth, Mark Clayton, Demetrius Williams, David Reed,Justin Harper,Todd Heap,Dennis Pitta,Ed Dickson, and Eron Riley(Some of these players may not be a Raven once the season starts) as their receiver weapons; The Ravens are now consider to have dangerous receiver weapons but it can only be as dangerous if it's used right and used with creativity.I believe The Ravens will use them well but it doesn't hurt to wonder.

I also wanted to say that did anybody see the the Jets vs the Giants
last night i thought the Jets was going to win but the giants came back big time. The Jets defense bitiz like crazy in the game and it made me wonder will Joe Flacco and the offensive line be able to handle it once the play them in the opening season
I think our offensive performance trailed off last year more as a result of Flacco’s injury than anything else.
Except for the Green Bay game which was just bad, and the Oakland game, in which he was in visible pain, Flacco still managed to throw the ball efficiently. Between weeks 12 and 17, he had QB rating of 100.8 (PIT), 27.2 (GB), 120.8 (DET), 135.6 (CHI), 83.1 (PIT), and 72.7 (@OAK).
You could be right that Cam can be a little predictable at times, which is strange to me because there are routine instances where he’ll do something crazy like a double-reverse to Clayton. I think we can all count about 5 times when we’ve broken a big play with Rice and then on the next play we come out of the shotgun with a draw play to… Ray Rice for a 3 yard gain? So yeah the creativity does seem to be lacking at times.
But I think that no matter how you slice it, Mason, Washington, and Clayton does not compare to Mason, Boldin, Stallworth, and Clayton. With this new talent, and a healthy Flacco, I expect our offense to be excellent.
"Cam, we're not going to have any issues because we're going to be winning."
--Joe Flacco
"Just win baby. Yeah, I stole that."

woah something really wierd happened with those QB ratings. Apparently if you use the “@” before and after something, this happens.
woah this is like SUPER blockquote bro! totally crazy right???

Joe Flacco injuries does contribute to the trailed off preformance by the offense
but when it came to playing against defense like the Bengels for example they easily were able to predict our next play becuase Cam Cameron wasnt calling out the Creative plays like he should had to confuse the defense. I believe the Talent was there even before Anquan Boldin, Dennis Pitta, Ed Dickson, and Donte Stallworth got here; Cam Cameron just wasnt using it more effectively.
i'm only going to post comments like this from now on
"Cam, we're not going to have any issues because we're going to be winning."
--Joe Flacco
"Just win baby. Yeah, I stole that."

Its all about comfortability
Is that a word ^? Flacco is in his third year and should come out swinging. Your offense will be scary, Boldin won’t last the whole year but hes a competitor and the games he’s in will make up for the one’s he’s absent for.

Matt Leinart was the reason
Boldin missed the playoffs. The competitor in Boldin allowed him to go after a pass that was poorly thrown by Leinart (GB game week17) and he injured his ankle on the reception. My position was Boldin should not have even been in the game at the time (he had his 1000 yards). Furthermore, Boldin would have played in all 16 games had Whisenhunt not told the equipment manager to take Q’s equipment out of his locker as Q was warming up (Chicago game). This didn’t sit well with the player. The equipment manager told Q he wasn’t playing and not the coaching staff. It’s interesting how some fail to take a look at everything when evaluating players.
Now Fitz is hurt because of Matt Leinart leading him into a shot by a safety. Just saying. To use a real estate term location, location, location. Ball location is very important or else players get hurt unneccessarily. I said last season on Revenge of the Birds that Leinart would get somebody hurt badly becuase he’s so inaccurate as a passer.
Would be nice I wish the guy nothing but the best
He couldn’t get the ring with the Cards so lets see if he can do it with a bird of another feather.

Too much at stake
It’s my belief that Cam Cameron will open up this offense. The weapons are here, proven and will garner respect from DC’s around this league. Flacco is poised to breakout, Stallworth is playing for his football life, Boldin wants to prove he can be the go to guy in the passing minus Fitzgerald opposite him and Rice is Rice a player that has Emmitt Smith traits with greater top-end speed.
I was unsure about the drafting of the 2 rookie TE’s Dickson and Pitta. I have been absolutley delighted by what I’ve seen from these 2 rookies. Dickson has huge up-side and Pitta is not far behind in terms of talent. If fact, Pitta looks like the more advance player as a route runner. P[itta’s also a vacuum cleaner…..he catches everything. The Detriot (2 TE personnel packages) featuring Heap and these talented rookies should be a nightmare for OC’s. I’d be remissed if
Too finished up
I left out McGahee and McClain in the backfield. Both players are Pro Bowlers and we enjoy great depth. Cam Cameron comes from a background where the vertical seem passing game is important and he now has the weapons to eploit defenses strecthing them horizontally and vertically.
If I have a concern it’s the RT spot. No one has stepped up to solidify/claim the position. If nothing changes this will affect the passing game and force a TE or RB to stay in and chip block. Of course sliding the protection is also an option.
Offense
I do think this year with the new weapons we have and the fact that Joe has another year under his belt will help. However you have to understand that not every play will be a suprise or something crazy.
We are primarily a running team and that will continue this year. Boldin is a great blocker, so I expect a few more stretch plays towards his side. But there is only so much you can do with a running game…. Inside run, Outside run.
I also think that last year we held in the TEs more to help the OL out with the injuries and a rookie Oher. This year, I expect Heap to be a little bit more of a weapon. Then again, it all depends on how well we can run our routes on how effective or creative we are in the offense. If someone can’t run a simple inside slant properly or catch a ball when it hits him in the numbers during a 4th down, we will be a little more predictable and keep the WR routes to a minimum.

Just a little
@ EdWarriorReed – Right in the numbers man…. My high school coach would have slapped us upside the heads if anyone on the team didn’t catch that ball – lineman included! It happens to everyone at times, but arghhh.
@BmoreBlitz – Oh I love the running game. I love the blocking schemes by the offensive line and the way a fullback has to choose the biggest threat to pick up. But realistically, you can only run inside the tackles or outside the tackles :) I would really love it if all of a sudden we become the Saints and throw for 500 yds a game.

A brand new game....
I don’t think alot will change, but the execution will.We more then likely are going to attack the oppositions weaknesses. If you put 8 in the box,we’re going to throw,if you don’t we’re going to run,if you blitz we’re going to screen. For example with the Jets, bet your ass,Cromartie is going to get run at and often.I also believe you will see some double tight end sets where the tight end splits the middle of the field on blitzing situations with quicker passes.I do believe Flacco was hurt during the Viikings game and it lingered all season. Our offense is going to dictate the way the game is going to be played…the same as our “D” has done for years, only now,the offense is going to contribute instead of being predictable…At least I hope so!
