What Type of Fantasy Football WR Will Ravens' Boldin Be?
While Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Anquan Boldin is supposed to be the missing link to lead the team to the Super Bowl, the bigger question in fantasy football is what type of season will Anquan Boldin have in Baltimore compared to what he did for the Arizona Cardinals.
Most fantasy football rankings have Boldin listed as a top 15 receiver, but few have him in the top ten. In Arizona, Larry Fitzgerald was the man and while Boldin had great seasons there, he was the #2 receiver and now will be considered the #1 wideout for the Ravens.
However, he was part of a pass happy offense in Arizona with future Hall of Fame QB Kurt Warner throwing to him every Sunday afternoon. Now he moves on to the Ravens, who should still be a run-first offense regardless of the pent up power in the passing game potential.
So then the question remains: Will "Q" be a great fantasy football pick, or just a good one? You decide and vote below.

I did this list off the top of my head. I'm sure I forgot at least one or two guys.
1. Andre Johnson
2. Randy Moss
3. Reggie Wayne
4. Miles Austin
5. Desean Jackson
6. Vincent Jackson (if he plays)
7. Greg Jennings
8. Sidney Rice
9. Calvin Johnson
10. Anquan Boldin
11. Julian Edelman (He really is welker 2.0)
12. Larry Fitzgerald (Leinhart sucks!)
Roddy White comes to mind.
Also, do you not think Welker will be back, or do you honestly think Edelman takes over for him? I don’t see Edelman as the 11th best fantasy receiver.
Other than White, Marshall is probably a top 10 receiver. Steve Smith the elder? There are a few others that I may take a chance on. The Giants have a pair of good receivers, Maclin played well last year, Crabtree could surprise. Maybe Justin Gage. Ochocinco’s probably not in the top 10, and his production has dropped off the past few years, but with all the WR talent around him he could see an increase in numbers.

If Welker doesn’t isn’t fully healthy by the reg season and Edelman is their # 2, he’d be my choice for breakout player of the year.
White and Marshall are good calls, I did forget them. They should both be right around top 10.
Gage and Steve Smith have sub par QBs throwing to them, so I don’t think they’ll be top 15. Crabtree is kind of in the same boat as those guys. Alex Smith is a question mark. Ocho Cinco I think has lost a step, along with Palmer (Palmer hasn’t lost a “step”, but you know what I mean).
Are you assuming
Welker doesn’t return at all? Or is this list only for the start of the season? I’m of the opinion that once Wes returns, he’d take back the #2 receiver spot…
Good points. Like I said, it be a gamble to expect any of those receivers in the top 10, but if you get screwed out of getting a top receiver, I think I’d go for a few of those players next.

Yea, he should take the # 2 position back, initially. If he’s not looking like Wes Welker of old, Edelman will get the bulk of receptions. It does take two years to fully recover from a torn ACL (and he tore it later int he season than Lardarius). Belicheck has never been a coach to not play the best players that give him a chance to win.
Nice List
I see things a little different though. Miles Austin will see inside/outside bracket and cloud coverage. His numbers should decrease if Dez Bryant is the player I think he is and more importantly the Cowboys would like him to be. Remember, Bryant provides leverage against Miles Austin contractual situation.
Desaen Jackson is a brilliant player in space. The Eagles will going to a more traditional West Coast offense. Does Jackson have the temperment to take those hits that come when you play in that style of offense ( I think the Eagles have reservations about this) where the WR takes vicious shots at times from safety’s and LB’s on those drags, slants and shallow crossing patterns. His lack of size (160 lbs.) is problematic in that system.
Antonio Gates and Philip Rivers have thrown Vincent Jackson under the bus. A. J. Smith (GM) is not going to pay Jackson. Jackson is sitting out. Sidney Rice is tied to Favre. Favre is not a lock to return. Even if does———-can he duplicate his fountain of youth performace of last season? Larry Fitzgerald has a sprained MCL. If this injury is more serious than we’re led to believe then his numbers will be down also. Matt “Hollywood” is his QB and he does suck. He is not starting NFL QB material.
Boldin moves up the list base on my scenario.
Miles Austin does scare me a little bit. Dallas’s line this preseason has been mediocre. I’m not sure if Tony Romo is gonna be able to walk by the end of this year.
You’re right on Rice and V. Jackson.
Desean Jackson is going to thrive with Kolb I think. Kolb has great pocket presence and good feel for timing the pass. He hits guys in stride and where they can make a move afterwards. Jackson is one of my key players I’m hoping to snag for my fantasy teams. Kolb should have great value late in the draft too.
If Vincent Jackson does end up sitting out, I’d expect Malcom Floyd to step up for San Diego. He’s definitely a potential sleeper pick this year.

I got legadu Naanee in my auction league. He’s a physical freak. He and Floyd are the two main reasons they’re not going to give VJack a new contract. They know they have other beasts waiting in the wings.

And even if they did somehow come to terms with Jackson, isn’t he suspended for the first two weeks?

yeah. But the reason they’re perfectly happy to lose him for the first 8 weeks (due to the Roster Exempt list he needs to be there in week 8 in order to get this accrued season towards Free Agency), is because of Floyd and Naanee. I’m telling you Naanee is a fantasy sleeper, I swear.

no doubt
but in an auction draft, Naanee is the guy because you can get him for next to nothing. Auction drafts are so great. You get to be your own Ozzie Newsome, letting other idiots overbid for superstars while you find value. This is my roster:
Flacco
Ray Rice
Ryan Matthews
Legedu Naanee
Randy Moss
Steve Smith (of Carolina)
Vernon Davis
Ravens D
Shane Graham (i’m guessing he’ll win the battle, and I got him for $1)

The only problem with have so many players from one team is that when they play a tough defense, your fantasy team is going to have a tough day. I usually pay attention to that when drafting… along with bye weeks.
I agree with not drafting too many players from one team. But I actually pay attention to the bye week for the opposite reason than most people. K look to have as many of my key starters as possible with the same bye week. You may be setting yourself up for a loss that week, but you’re pretty much running with a solid starting lineup the rest of the year.

my leauge allows for a huge bench, and i have Ladanian, Owen Daniels, the San Fran D/ST, and a few other fantasy contributors on the bench. I have Kolb from Phila, because in the auction league he was super cheap and I figured I might get a huge year out of him.

Thats a great team
How many teams in that league? I play in 14 teamers and no way I could get a team that stacked.
doesn't matter
he is now on the roster exempt list as SD knows he won’t report. He now has to report in week 8 in order to play in week 11 in order to have this season count towards free agency.
if I may repeat myself, FAVRE WATCH IS PISSING ME OFF!
OH MY GOD FAVRE GOT OFF THE PLANE! HE IS NOW IN THE CAR! BRETT FAVRE IS NOW IN A TOYOTA MATRIX! DRIVING SOMEWHERE! IN MINNEAPOLIS!

Floyd
Floyd is now the go to guy in San Diego. He’s a explosive vertical WR that high points the ball and creates a nice radius for Phillip Rivers because of his wing span in the redzone. He’s not as physical as Jackson but I expect him to have a fine season.
Calvin Johnson is a top 5. He’s a studd and Stafford has the arm to hit him.
by Georgia Raven on Aug 16, 2010 3:47 PM EDT via mobile reply actions
Agreed, Calvin Johnson is da shit. He’s just doesn’t have any help there. He gets double and triple covered all the time. Detroit is a bad team and doesn’t score many TDs. Stafford is still unproven. I’m guessing you’re a little bias towards him because you’re from Georgia (where Stafford went).
