Terrence Cody Fails Conditioning Test
Before all of the fat jokes begin, let's think about this. Harbaugh stated that the Ravens require every player to be in 'world-class' condition before they can practice with the team. I actually think that this is a good idea... Not just requiring the conditioning but also the handling of Cody.
All of us knew that Cody is the type of player that's going to need to work extra hard at his conditioning. The Ravens are basically saying, from the beginning, that they are holding him to the highest standard and plan to enforce it. Personally, I think this is a good thing and sends the right message to not only Cody, but the rest of the team as well.

I heard the test was Cody had to sit with a maple bar infront of him for two minutes without taking a bite. Golden Tate reportedly failed as well.
Much better
than Cody trying to practice out of shape and then winding up with heat exhaustion or worse.
They say the empty can rattles the most...
still
not encouraging

wow i didn't know that
This blog is great. Nowhere else would I hear this sort of information. The type of stuff that isn’t a story by itself, but plays into the greater context of things and is useful to know.

I think it may be a little blown out of proportion by some people that Cody failed the conditioning test. Does anyone think that coming into his senior season at Bama he would have passed the test? Most likely not. The reason for this being that the gap between college and the pros is so great that each and every thing about each player has to be perfect for them to make the final 53.
I am sure Alabama runs one of the nations top conditioning programs on the college level, but these guys are getting paid millions of dollars now, so they MUST be in top tip shape and obviously right now, Cody is not.
I say let the guy get settled in, let Ray Lewis and the other kick his ass in the weight room and let this guy show us why we all wanted him so badly.
I don't know
Cody was knock for a lack of condition. Kill the conversation by coming in and passing the test. Cardiovascular drills can be done.
I'm sure he'll take it again shortly
and pass with “flying colors.” I’ve asked if I could take the test alongside the players and was told “doubtful.”

Rich Eisen is overrated
We need an Adam Schefter here.

Don’t you ever forget it.

What does the conditioning test include?
I can’t find a breakdown of what is included in the test. Do you have that info?
"What we've got here is failure to communicate."
Honestly they probably did pass him in college. There is so much cruddy shit going on now that they probably passed him so he could play. If Ray Rice showed up to Rutgers out of shape, do u think they would fail him? Hell no Ray was their offense.

Blown out of proportion?
I will assume he knew he had to pass the test and what the test was. To show up your rookie year and not be able to pass the test is unbelievable. What the hell was he doing between OTAs and now? I hope I am wrong, but this is not a good sign.
"What we've got here is failure to communicate."
don't get me wrong
it’s good that they’re sending this message to Cody that he’s going to need a lifestyle change and major sacrifice in order to be a part of this team. But no matter how you spin it, it’s not good that he failed the conditioning test.
We may look back on this and say it was great coaching and pat our coaches on the back for bringing Cody along, or we may look back on this as the beginning of a series of failures by Cody to mature and condition himself appropriately.

Might Add
That Cody looks as slender as I have ever seen him. No one is reporting that though. The weight down is a huge first step. The conditioning will get there. Harbaugh holds these guys to a really high fitness level. I doubt Goose or Sam Adams would have done well in this camp.
The team's roster they handed out this am
says he is 6’4" and ONLY 349 pounds. Comparitively, Ngata is weighing in at 350, as did McKinney and Talavou. Gregg ONLY weighs 320. Lightweight!

"Who didn't see this coming?"
I saw it coming.
What more is there to say? No need to be mean about it. Malor knows we’re laughing at him and his “favorite raven.”
"It was an attrition football game and you know we like that."
Laugh all you want, it does not affect me. I know and we all know that this guy will be playing for us week 1. Come week 4, we will be the one’s laughing.
Is cody going to be a starter week 1?
"It was an attrition football game and you know we like that."
Probably not. Gregg is still very solid, but Cody will likely get a good amount of playing time.
Water covers 2/3 of the Earth's surface. Ed Reed covers the rest.
I like the idea of having Cody in on 3rd downs with fresh legs. I guarantee mayhem would result.

yeah that would be nice
you take out the NT when they get winded, and having two of them would be helpful.
BTW to both of you on the Cody topic, I find it interesting that he couldn’t do the drill day one and then sat, and then passed it then next day. Of course that’s good news for yinz that he passed it, but passing it the next day means he could have done it day 1 and just didn’t. Weird.

i know some steeler fans that look at the world through black and gold colored glasses, but how exactly can you try to spin failing a conditioning test as good thing?
Well you see
Certain Anti-McDonalds activists could use some overweight people for their ads. That’s one. And if all else fails, he can retire and become a sumo wrestler….

No one ever said that Cody failing the test was a good thing… only that the Ravens will be holding him accountable from the beginning.
I still think that’s a good thing. I would way rather have Cody fail the test, then accept him in anything less than “word-class” condition. This sends Cody the right message. It’s one thing to want to stay in good condition, but it’s another to know that you’ll be held accountable.
It’s like everyone (including Steelers’ fans) said… This isn’t surprising news. Sure, Cody failing the conditioning test is bad, but we almost expected it. I’m just glad that it’s being handled correctly from the beginning. He’ll be in shape soon, and now we know that the Ravens plan on enforcing it.
Bad news always comes in threes....
1.) Sergio Kindle – Fractured Skull….
2.) Terrance Cody – Failed Conditioning test and can’t start practicing…
3.) ??? Anyone for the third piece of bad news…. (Please fill in the blank) Oh and no references to T.O. allowed here….
Hmmm...
In thinking about it, Terrence Cody is the size of two grown men so maybe he makes up both 2 and 3!!! Nevermind…
this terrance cody story...
Is irrelevant. The guy needs to push fat men and move maybe 10 yards a play. Do I care he couldn’t do a bunch of sprints in a row? How much sprinting is he going to be doing on the field?
He weighed in at the correct weight, that’s what we want out of the guy. That’s the real story.

![From Aaron Wilson on Twitter...
"Terrence cody is here [Ben Grubbs' charity softball game] and looks like he's in pretty good shape wouldn't say what he weighs but said he's lighter than last season"
